How much does the 2017 Volkswagen Jetta GLI cost?

There are 70 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2017 Volkswagen Jetta GLI a good car?

Yes — the 5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. The 2017 Volkswagen Jetta GLI offers the practicality of a compact sedan with a sportier personality, plus aggressive styling, standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a useful set of safety and driver-assistance features. It also stands out if you want a daily driver that still feels engaging, with a turbocharged engine and performance-focused hardware that separate it from a standard Jetta. 34.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Volkswagen Jetta GLI reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2017 Volkswagen Jetta GLI’s overview also notes that it carries a less-than-stellar reputation for reliability and maintenance costs that are higher than those of Japanese or domestic rivals. That means you should think carefully about upkeep history and ownership costs before committing to a used example. For long-term ownership, the main risk is ending up with a car that needs more frequent or more expensive maintenance than you expected.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Volkswagen Jetta GLI?

At 57.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with accident records. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially on the suspension, brakes, and other wear items that matter on a sport sedan. Focus on overall condition and maintenance evidence, since a well-kept car is more likely to deliver the ownership experience you want.

What is the 2017 Volkswagen Jetta GLI's resale value?

The current average of $13,865 sits slightly above last year's $12,602.

That price movement suggests the market has been willing to pay more for this model year, which can help support resale value if you buy carefully. If you choose a clean, well-maintained example, you may be better positioned when it comes time to sell. Strong demand for the right car matters most when inventory is limited and shoppers are comparing condition closely.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Volkswagen Jetta GLI or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 34.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 57.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 10.02% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 is the right pick if you want the GLI’s mix of practicality, performance, and strong owner satisfaction, especially if you can find a clean example with solid maintenance history. If you’re more price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on whichever one gives you the best combination of condition, history, and asking price rather than chasing the newest badge alone.
