How much does the 2017 Toyota Corolla cost?

Prices are up 1.25% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 1,975 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of used Corolla options to compare.

Is the 2017 Toyota Corolla a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Toyota Corolla earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 6.2/10 expert rating. The model scores 7/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Technology.

You also get recurring praise for fuel efficiency, comfort, and reliability, along with a ride quality that many owners appreciate. For a compact car aimed at everyday commuting, that lines up well with the Corolla’s practical, value-focused setup and its emphasis on easy day-to-day use.

There are 33.1% good or great deals in the market, so you still have room to shop carefully.

Is the 2017 Toyota Corolla reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback repeatedly points to reliability and a trouble-free ownership experience, with drivers also describing the car as dependable over time. That matches the Corolla’s reputation for being a sensible daily driver you can count on.

The expert evaluation also frames it as a practical, cost-conscious choice, even while noting some tradeoffs in refinement and performance. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about complexity and more about whether the specific car has been maintained well and avoided hard use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Toyota Corolla?

At 44.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had body damage or shows uneven wear. Focus on overall condition, maintenance records, and whether the car feels consistent with its mileage and asking price.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base L trim is well equipped with adaptive cruise, a 6.1-inch touchscreen with Entune, and air conditioning, while the LE adds 16-inch wheels, keyless entry, auto climate control, heated mirrors, and variable intermittent wipers. The XLE adds alloy wheels, keyless ignition and entry, pleather, heated seats, a sunroof, and a larger 7-inch display with navigation, while the SE and XSE bring sport-themed and comfort upgrades.
• Powertrain: The Corolla uses a 1.8-liter engine with a CVT, and the source notes that the engine is underpowered and the transmission can feel coarse and droning. An optional 6-speed manual appears on the SE, and the Eco version of the LE is tuned for maximum efficiency.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense P is standard and includes auto high beams, lane-departure warning with intervention, and forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection and auto braking. A reversing camera is also standard, and the source notes that trims below the SE come with rear drum brakes.
• Infotainment: Standard Entune includes a 6.1-inch touchscreen, while the XLE gets a larger 7-inch display with Entune Audio Plus, HD and satellite radio, plus navigation. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are not included.
• Fuel efficiency: The Corolla is rated at 28 mpg city and 36 mpg highway, and the Eco version of the LE is tuned for maximum efficiency.

Which 2017 Toyota Corolla trim should I buy?

The 2017 Toyota Corolla is offered in 7 trim levels: L, LE, LE Eco, XLE, SE, XSE, 50th-Anniversary Edition.

Here's the short version:

• L: This is the value entry point, and it already includes adaptive cruise, a reversing camera, Toyota Safety Sense P, a 6.1-inch touchscreen with Entune, and air conditioning. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Corolla without giving up the core safety and convenience features.
• LE: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds 16-inch wheels, keyless entry, auto climate control, heated mirrors, and variable intermittent wipers without pushing too far upmarket. If you want a balanced mix of price and everyday comfort, this is the trim to target first.
• LE Eco: Choose this if your priority is maximum efficiency, since it drops to 15-inch wheels with low-rolling-resistance tires and gets tuning aimed at aerodynamics, suspension, and engine efficiency. It suits you best if fuel savings matter more than extra features.
• XLE: This is the comfort-focused choice, adding alloy wheels, keyless ignition and entry, pleather, heated seats, a sunroof, and the larger 7-inch display with navigation. It’s the right pick if you want the most upscale feel in the lineup.
• SE: This is the sport-themed trim, with 17-inch alloy wheels, a rear spoiler, a sport seat and gauge cluster, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and paddle shifters with the CVT. It’s the trim to consider if you want the Corolla’s most aggressive appearance and a manual-transmission option.
• XSE: This builds on the SE with a sunroof, keyless entry and ignition, heated seats, and a power driver’s seat. It’s the most complete non-special-edition choice if you want sport styling with more comfort.
• 50th-Anniversary Edition: This special edition is based on the SE and adds unique 17-inch wheels, upgraded cloth and leather upholstery with black cherry contrast stitching, and anniversary badging and trim inside and out. It’s mainly for shoppers who want the commemorative look and don’t mind paying extra for it.

Toyota Safety Sense P is standard, and that makes even the lower trims easier to recommend than they might otherwise be.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Toyota Corolla?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,975 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.25% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 44.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,129, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Toyota Corolla's resale value?

The current average of $13,887 sits slightly above last year's $13,717.

That modest increase suggests the Corolla has held value reasonably well for a used compact car. If you’re planning to sell later, the current pricing trend shows that demand is still steady enough to support a decent exit price.

The market also appears to reward the Corolla’s practical reputation and broad shopper appeal. If you keep mileage reasonable and maintenance records organized, you should be in a better position to attract buyers when it’s time to list.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Toyota Corolla safe?

The 2017 Toyota Corolla earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Marginal result in the IIHS small-overlap front-impact test.

It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense P is standard, bringing auto high beams, lane-departure warning with intervention, and forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection and auto braking. A reversing camera is also standard, which helps round out the Corolla’s everyday safety equipment.

The main caveat is the IIHS small-overlap result, which is a meaningful weakness to keep in mind when you’re shopping used. That makes a clean history report and a careful inspection especially important.

Should I buy a 2017 Toyota Corolla or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 44.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.25% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Toyota made Safety Sense P standard, adding auto high beams, lane-departure warning with intervention, and forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection and auto braking.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $12,778, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $13,887 average.
• It emphasizes fuel economy and cost-effectiveness while packaging the features you really need.

The bottom line: Choose the 2017 if you want the stronger safety content and a fresher feature set. If your top priority is saving money, the 2016 can still make sense, especially if you find one in excellent condition and don’t mind giving up some of the 2017’s added equipment.

How does the 2017 Toyota Corolla compare to the 2017 Honda Civic?

The Corolla is cheaper on the used market and has a slightly better share of good or great deals, while the Civic offers more power, better highway efficiency, and more listings to choose from. If you want the lower purchase price, the Corolla has the edge; if you want stronger performance and a broader inventory, the Civic is the more compelling alternative.
