How much does the 2017 Subaru WRX STI cost?

There are 249 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2017 Subaru WRX STI a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Subaru WRX STI earns a 5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. The overview describes it as a rally-inspired performance sedan with standard all-wheel drive, a six-speed manual transmission, and a clear motorsport pedigree, so you’re looking at a car built for serious driving rather than comfort-first commuting. It also emphasizes that the STI remains usable day to day, which makes it appealing if you want performance without giving up everyday practicality. 34.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Subaru WRX STI reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview points to a focused, well-defined performance formula with standard all-wheel drive, a turbocharged 2.5-liter boxer four-cylinder engine, and a six-speed manual transmission. It also highlights hardware such as the Driver Controlled Center Differential, Multi-mode Vehicle Dynamics Control, Subaru Intelligent Drive, Brembo brakes, and Super Sport ABS, which reinforces the car’s purpose-built character. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a performance sedan with this kind of hardware can be more sensitive to hard use and deferred maintenance, so condition matters a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Subaru WRX STI?

At 55% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a full vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on signs of hard driving, uneven wear, and any evidence of poor repairs. Because this is a performance-oriented sedan, you should pay close attention to overall condition rather than just mileage or price.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Subaru WRX STI?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

If you find a listing below $21,023, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Subaru WRX STI's resale value?

The current average of $22,163 sits slightly above last year's $22,109.

That small increase suggests the market has stayed stable rather than swinging sharply in either direction. For a future seller, that kind of pricing pattern can be helpful because it points to predictable demand instead of a volatile market. If your car is in strong condition and has a clean history, you’re better positioned to hold value when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Subaru WRX STI or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 34.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 is a strong choice if you want the WRX STI’s rally-bred character, standard all-wheel drive, and everyday usability in a market that looks stable and reasonably shoppable. If you’re more price-sensitive, you can also keep an eye on nearby years, but the 2017 stands out as a compelling pick when you find a clean, well-kept example at the right price.
