How much does the 2017 Subaru Crosstrek cost?

Prices have softened 4.99% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,597 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2017 Subaru Crosstrek a good car?

Yes — the 4.88/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the safety features, smooth handling, comfort, reliability, and fuel efficiency, which fits a compact crossover you can use for everyday driving. The Crosstrek’s practical layout, useful cargo space, and all-weather character make it especially appealing if you want utility without moving up to a larger SUV. With 33.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, you also have a decent chance of finding a competitive price.

Is the 2017 Subaru Crosstrek reliable?

Owners rate it 4.88/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback highlights reliability, and many drivers describe it as dependable and well suited to everyday use. The same reviews also point to fuel efficiency and a trouble-free ownership experience as part of its appeal. For used buyers, that suggests lower long-term ownership risk than you might expect from a small crossover with this much utility.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Subaru Crosstrek?

At 61.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Put inspection priority on body condition, alignment, and signs of prior repair, since those can reveal whether an incident affected the vehicle beyond cosmetic damage. It also makes sense to focus on overall wear inside and out, because condition can vary a lot across used examples.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Subaru Crosstrek?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting deep discounts on every listing.

• Deal availability: 33.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,597 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.99% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,717, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Subaru Crosstrek's resale value?

The current average of $13,831 sits slightly below last year's $14,558.

That softer pricing can help you buy with less risk of overpaying, but it also means future resale gains may be limited if the market stays steady. If you plan to sell later, the current trend suggests value retention will depend more on condition, mileage, and history than on broad market appreciation. Strong demand for well-kept examples should still help support pricing.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.88/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Subaru Crosstrek or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 33.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.99% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.88/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $12,490, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $13,831 average.
• It adds useful safety tech and a fresher look.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $15,896, the 2018 costs more than the current year's $13,831 average.
• It brings a full redesign with a more refined take on the formula.

The bottom line: The 2017 is the best fit if you want a well-liked Crosstrek with strong owner satisfaction and a softer current price. If your priority is saving money, the 2016 is the better value play; if you want the newer redesign and can stretch your budget, the 2018 is the upgrade path to consider.
