If you buy used, focus on service records and a thorough pre-purchase inspection so you can reduce the risk of inheriting expensive repair issues.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLC?

At 64.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a hands-on inspection of bodywork, electronics, and any signs of prior repair quality. Because this model can be appealing for both comfort and performance, you’ll want to pay close attention to how the drivetrain, brakes, and suspension feel on a test drive. Condition matters more than mileage alone here, especially if you’re considering a higher-spec example.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The AMG GLC 43 adds a more aggressive exterior look, a special cabin treatment, and a performance-focused setup that makes it feel special inside and out, while the standard GLC 300 is the more sensible choice if you want a calmer daily driver.
• Powertrain: The AMG GLC 43 uses a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter V6 with 362 horsepower, an AMG-tuned 9-speed automatic, and performance-oriented all-wheel drive. It also includes an automatic engine stop/start system and is tuned for drivers who plan to use the SUV hard.
• Safety package: Every GLC-Class includes forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, drowsy-driver monitoring, a reversing camera, Pre-Safe, and blind-spot warning. The Premium 3 option package adds adaptive cruise control with full-stop capability, pedestrian detection, active lane-centering steering assist, active lane-keeping and blind-spot assist, rear cross-traffic alert, rear-impact Pre-Safe preparation, and active LED headlights with automatic high-beam activation.
• Infotainment: Versions with navigation use an 8.4-inch screen. The system includes a control knob, handwriting recognition pad, and dashboard buttons, and Mbrace services add connected features such as Wi-Fi hotspot access, remote functions, roadside assistance, and safety-related services.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA says the AMG GLC 43 should return 20 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLC trim should I buy?

The 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLC is offered in 1 trim level: AMG GLC 43.

Here's the short version:

The AMG GLC 43 is the right pick if you want the performance-first version and plan to drive it the way it was intended. It brings the twin-turbo V6, AMG-tuned hardware, performance brakes, adaptive air suspension, and a more aggressive character that makes sense if you value speed and driving enjoyment over everyday smoothness.

If you want the most satisfying version for enthusiastic driving, this is the one to buy. If you want a calmer, more cost-conscious used luxury crossover, the broader GLC lineup would normally be the better fit, but that is not the trim represented in this model-year data.

The Premium 3 package is the safety-focused upgrade to look for if you want the longest list of driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLC?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and pricing movement to reward careful shopping.

• Deal availability: 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,075 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.43% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 64.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $15,429, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLC's resale value?

The current average of $15,460 sits slightly below last year's $16,701.

That tells you the market has moved down enough to favor buyers today, but it also means future sellers may face a softer pricing environment if the trend continues. If you buy now, your entry price is lower than it was a year ago, which can help cushion depreciation later. Well-kept examples with strong equipment and clean history should still be easier to move than neglected ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLC safe?

The 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLC has not been crash tested by either the federal government or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Every GLC-Class comes standard with forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking, drowsy-driver monitoring, a reversing camera, Pre-Safe, and blind-spot warning. If you want the fullest driver-assistance suite, look for the Premium 3 option package, which adds adaptive cruise control with full-stop capability, pedestrian detection, active lane-centering steering assist, active lane-keeping and blind-spot assist, rear cross-traffic alert, rear-impact Pre-Safe preparation, and active LED headlights with automatic high-beam activation.

One caveat is that the high-beam behavior noted during testing was not ideal, so you should pay attention to lighting performance if you drive at night often.

Should I buy a 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLC or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 34.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 64.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.43% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The expert review says this year’s AMG GLC 43 is disappointing as a daily driver but extraordinarily satisfying when you want a performance SUV built for driving hard and fast.

The bottom line: If you want the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLC specifically, it makes the most sense when you value its performance character and can verify a clean, well-maintained example. If you’re price-sensitive, you should shop carefully and prioritize condition over options, because the best-value listings are the ones that combine a lower asking price with a clean history and strong service records.
