Is the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLA a good car?

Yes — the 4.7/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction for this model year. The 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLA stands out as a small luxury crossover that blends premium branding with a compact footprint and a sporty feel. It offers a clear split between everyday use and performance-focused appeal, and it also brings Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to the infotainment system, which makes it easier to live with. If you want a premium badge in a compact crossover with a more athletic personality than many rivals, this model year fits that brief well. 36.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLA reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLA uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, and it was offered with all-wheel drive for buyers who wanted more traction. Its compact size and premium-tech focus make it appealing, but the first-generation model’s small footprint means you should pay close attention to how the vehicle has been maintained and used over time. For used buyers, long-term ownership risk is best managed by checking service history carefully and making sure the drivetrain and interior electronics are in good shape.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLA?

At 57.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records, title status, and ownership patterns before you go any further. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially for signs of bodywork, uneven panel gaps, or wear that could point to past damage. Because this model is a compact luxury crossover with a small interior and a sporty layout, condition matters a lot when you’re comparing individual listings.

What is the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLA's resale value?

The current average of $12,689 sits slightly below last year's $14,384.

That softer pricing suggests the model has become more accessible for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to stay competitive on condition and mileage. If you buy well now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later, especially if you choose a clean, well-kept example. Strong maintenance records and a desirable trim or drivetrain can help your listing stand out when it’s time to resell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLA or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 36.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 57.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.79% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should focus on the 2017 if you want a compact luxury crossover with a premium badge, modern infotainment, and a price that has moved lower than it was a year ago. If your priority is finding the cleanest possible example at the lowest entry price, a nearby year may also be worth comparing, but the 2017 remains a strong choice when you want value and a well-liked ownership experience.
