Is the 2017 Lexus NX a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Lexus NX earns a 4.8/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its comfort, smooth ride, sporty feel, and stylish design, and the NX’s reputation for durability fits well if you want a compact luxury SUV that feels upscale without being overly flashy. It also works well if you value a distinctive design and a choice of powertrains, though space is not one of its strongest points. With 36.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2017 Lexus NX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners also describe it as reliable and dependable, with praise for trouble-free ownership and confidence in the vehicle over the long term. That kind of feedback matters if you want a used luxury SUV you can count on beyond the first few years. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific example you choose has been maintained well and hasn’t accumulated avoidable wear.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Lexus NX?

At 56.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records, title status, and service history before you commit. A pre-purchase inspection should be a priority, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive or the seller cannot document maintenance. Focus closely on overall condition, because the best used NX is the one with clean history, consistent upkeep, and no signs of hidden body or mechanical issues.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Lexus NX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly when a strong listing appears.

• Deal availability: 36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 675 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.55% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 56.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $18,719, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Lexus NX's resale value?

The current average of $19,797 sits slightly above last year's $19,494.

That upward movement suggests the market still sees value in this model year, which can help support resale strength if you buy well and keep the vehicle in good condition. A stable price trend also means you may not face a steep drop in value right away, especially if you choose a clean, well-maintained example. Strong demand for the NX’s comfort, style, and reliability profile should continue to help future resale prospects.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Lexus NX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 56.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 1.55% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2017 is a good choice if you want a used NX with strong owner satisfaction, a solid market presence, and a price that still sits below the newer model year. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby older year may save you money, but you’ll want to balance that against condition, history, and equipment differences. If you want the best mix of value and confidence, the 2017 is the safer primary pick.
