Is the 2017 Jeep Cherokee a good car?

Generally — the 4.45/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction for this model year. Owners commonly praise its comfort, smooth ride, and the variety of features it offers, and many also like the way it delivers a more upscale feel than they expected. At 63.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection from a trusted mechanic. Focus on overall condition, repair history, and signs of past damage so you can separate a clean, well-kept example from one that may bring extra ownership risk.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Jeep Cherokee?

• Deal availability: 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

If you find a listing below $11,774, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Jeep Cherokee's resale value?

The current average of $11,777 sits slightly below last year's $12,539.

That softer pricing suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle has been maintained. A clean history and strong presentation matter more when the broader market has eased.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.45/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Jeep Cherokee or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.08% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.45/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $10,365, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $11,777 average.
• It emphasizes capable, comfortable driving on and off pavement.

The bottom line: Choose the 2017 if you want the stronger current-market balance of price, inventory, and owner satisfaction. If you’re more price-sensitive, the 2016 is the better value play, especially if you find one in excellent condition and can live with the older model year’s tradeoffs.
