How much does the 2017 Jaguar XE cost?

Prices have softened 4.12% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

Is the 2017 Jaguar XE a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Jaguar XE earns a 4.58/5 user rating and a 6.67/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Performance and Safety.

Owner feedback consistently points to the XE’s striking looks, sporty performance, and luxurious feel. You also see repeated praise for its comfortable, fun driving experience, strong acceleration, and smooth handling. That lines up well with its role as a compact luxury sedan aimed at shoppers who want a more athletic personality than the average commuter-focused alternative. With 32.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Jaguar XE reliable?

Owners rate it 4.58/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

In owner feedback, the XE is described as a car people appreciate for its luxurious feel, comfortable driving experience, and strong performance, which supports the sense that it can be a satisfying car to live with over time. The expert evaluation also notes that Jaguar’s 5-year/60,000-mile warranty, including all scheduled maintenance, is a big plus for the price. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that tech issues and other age-related wear can matter more than the car’s core driving appeal.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Jaguar XE?

At 69.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage example or one with a complex option set. Focus on overall condition, signs of prior bodywork, and whether the car’s electronics and comfort features work as intended. Because this model’s appeal depends so much on its premium feel, you’ll want to make sure the cabin, controls, and driving experience still match that promise.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base version is the most stripped-down choice, while higher trims add more luxury and convenience equipment; the top R-Sport trim also brings standard driver-assistance features that are optional elsewhere.
• Powertrain: You can find a 2.0-liter turbo 4-cylinder, a diesel 2.0-liter turbo 4-cylinder, or a supercharged 3.0-liter V6, with the diesel standing out for efficiency and the V6 for the strongest performance.
• Safety package: The top R-Sport trim includes forward-collision alert, auto-braking, lane-keep assist, and a driver fatigue alert as standard equipment, while those features are optional on other trims.
• Infotainment: The 10.2-inch screen is clear and supports touch and swiping gestures, but the system’s software behavior can be inconsistent, so you should test every function carefully before buying.
• Fuel efficiency: The diesel is rated at 32 mpg city and 42 highway, or 30/40 with AWD, while gas models are rated at 21/30 for the rear-wheel-drive four-cylinder and V6, and 20/29 for the AWD V6.

Which 2017 Jaguar XE trim should I buy?

The 2017 Jaguar XE is offered in 4 trim levels: base, Premium, Prestige, and R-Sport.

Here's the short version:

• base: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the XE’s styling and driving character at the lowest price, but you should expect the fewest features.
• Premium: This is the step-up trim that broadens the XE’s appeal with more equipment while staying below the higher-content versions.
• Prestige: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it balances luxury features and overall equipment without pushing all the way to the top of the range.
• R-Sport: This is the trim to choose if you want the most complete safety package, since it makes forward-collision alert, auto-braking, lane-keep assist, and a driver fatigue alert standard.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Jaguar XE?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 143 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.12% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 69.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,968, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Jaguar XE's resale value?

The current average of $12,126 sits slightly below last year's $12,647.

That downward move suggests the XE has become a bit more buyer-friendly in the used market, which can help you if you’re shopping now. For a future seller, it also means you should expect pricing pressure if the car is not especially clean, well maintained, or well equipped. The strongest examples will usually be the ones that hold attention best when it’s time to resell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.58/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Jaguar XE safe?

The 2017 Jaguar XE has not been rated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The XE’s safety content centers on available driver-assistance tech rather than published crash-test results. Blind-spot monitoring is available and flashes alerts in each side-view mirror if a fast-moving car approaches from behind. Forward-collision alert, auto-braking, lane-keep assist, and a driver fatigue alert are standard in the top R-Sport trim and optional on others. Adaptive cruise control, 360-degree cameras, and automatic parking are also available.

Should I buy a 2017 Jaguar XE or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 69.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.12% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.58/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2017 XE is positioned to rebuild Jaguar’s image in the compact luxury sedan segment, and its standout strengths are its styling, sporty performance, and luxurious feel.

The bottom line: If you want the XE’s core appeal — sharp looks, engaging driving manners, and a premium feel — the 2017 is a reasonable year to target, especially if you find a clean example with the right equipment. If you’re more price-sensitive, focus on the best-maintained listing you can find rather than chasing the newest or most heavily optioned car.
