How much does the 2017 Honda CR-V cost?

Prices have softened 1.80% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 4,408 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare on price, mileage, and condition.

Is the 2017 Honda CR-V a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Honda CR-V earns a 4.65/5 user rating and an 8.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its excellent fuel economy, spacious interior, and strong mix of features for the price. The overview also points to a practical, family-friendly compact crossover with a distinctive design and broad everyday usefulness. For shoppers who want a compact SUV that balances value, space, and safety, that combination is hard to ignore.

Good and great deals account for 34.4% of listings, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2017 Honda CR-V reliable?

Owners rate it 4.65/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback highlights reliability as one of the CR-V’s core strengths, along with a reputation for being dependable and a good long-term value. The expert review also emphasizes the model’s long history of reliability and its ability to provide cost-effective transportation for years to come. That said, you should still pay close attention to maintenance records and overall condition, because used ownership risk depends heavily on how each individual vehicle was treated.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Honda CR-V?

At 61.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then focus your inspection on bodywork quality, panel alignment, and signs of prior repair. A pre-purchase inspection is especially useful here because condition can vary widely from one listing to the next. You should also pay close attention to the cabin and electronics, since owner feedback mentions a few technical issues on certain trims.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX is the most stripped-down version, while the EX, EX-L, and Touring add more equipment and refinement. The higher trims are the better fit if you want a more complete feature set.
• Powertrain: The LX uses a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine, while the other trims use a turbocharged 1.5-liter 4-cylinder. The turbo engine delivers power at lower revs and across a broader part of the rev range, with better fuel economy.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard on all CR-Vs except the base LX. It includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and Road Departure Mitigation. The EX, EX-L, and Touring also add a Driver Attention Monitor.
• Infotainment: A 7-inch touchscreen is standard on all trims except the LX. It includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Bluetooth calling and music streaming, text-messaging support, and HondaLink features. Navigation and a premium sound system are available on higher trims.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert review notes 26.1 mpg on a test loop, and says an AWD CR-V should get 29 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2017 Honda CR-V trim should I buy?

The 2017 Honda CR-V is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, EX, EX-L, Touring.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, but it misses out on the standard Honda Sensing suite and the touchscreen infotainment setup found on the higher trims. It makes sense only if you want the lowest purchase price and can live with fewer features.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the turbocharged engine, the 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Honda Sensing. It gives you the biggest jump in everyday usability and safety equipment.
• EX-L: This trim builds on the EX with a more upscale feel and adds the Driver Attention Monitor. It suits you if you want more comfort and a richer cabin without going all the way to the top trim.
• Touring: This is the most fully equipped version, with the most premium presentation and the strongest feature set. It makes sense if you want the most refined CR-V and are willing to pay for it.

Honda Sensing is standard on all CR-Vs except the base LX trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Honda CR-V?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting a deep buyer’s market.

• Deal availability: 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,408 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.80% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $16,852, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Honda CR-V's resale value?

The current average of $17,426 sits slightly below last year's $17,745.

That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you as a buyer today but may also mean a seller needs to price competitively. If you plan to resell later, the CR-V’s strong reputation for practicality and value should help support demand. The model’s broad appeal and owner satisfaction also work in its favor when it comes time to trade or sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.65/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Honda CR-V safe?

The 2017 Honda CR-V earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is the key safety suite here, and it includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning, lane-departure warning, and Road Departure Mitigation. Blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and a reversing camera with multiple camera angles also add useful everyday protection. The main safety caveat is that Honda Sensing is not standard on the base LX trim, so you need to shop above that level if you want the full suite.

Should I buy a 2017 Honda CR-V or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.80% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.65/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The redesigned 2017 model is described as a strong all-around package with standout safety and value.

The bottom line: If you want the redesigned CR-V with strong safety, broad appeal, and a good mix of value and practicality, the 2017 is an easy year to target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can also compare it with nearby years to see whether a lower-mileage or better-equipped example offers a better overall deal.
