Used 2017 Genesis G80 for Sale near Alabama

How much does the 2017 Genesis G80 cost?

Prices have softened 2.19% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 258 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2017 Genesis G80 a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 4.93/5 user-rated car with an 8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its excellent value, impressive technology, and luxurious feel. That lines up with the car’s upscale positioning and its appeal as a midsize luxury sedan that aims to offer something a little different.

For you, that means the 2017 G80 makes the most sense if you want a luxury sedan with strong perceived value and a polished feature set rather than the most refined cabin in the class. Good and great deals account for 32.6% of listings, which supports the case for shopping carefully.

Is the 2017 Genesis G80 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.93/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that feels reliable, dependable, and trouble-free enough to earn strong loyalty, especially from shoppers who value its long-term ownership appeal. The expert test-drive notes also point to a car built to meet the requirements of a comprehensive warranty program, which reinforces the sense that it’s designed to be a reassuring ownership proposition.

Genesis also includes free scheduled maintenance with valet service for the first three years of ownership, which adds a useful ownership perk. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that some examples may have been driven hard or maintained inconsistently, so condition and service history matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Genesis G80?

At 55.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on cars with higher mileage or visible cosmetic wear. Pay close attention to seat comfort, infotainment behavior, and any signs that the driver-assistance systems or camera equipment have been repaired after damage.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes the 3.8 and 5.0 trims. The 3.8 is the base version with rear-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive, while the 5.0 adds the more powerful V8 and a richer equipment set.
• Powertrain: You get a 3.8-liter V6 or a 5.0-liter V8, both paired with an 8-speed automatic. The V8 brings swift, silent acceleration, while the V6 is the more straightforward value play.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes adaptive cruise control with stop and go, forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert.
• Infotainment: The 5.0’s upgraded 9.2-inch touchscreen is intuitive, and the 17-speaker Lexicon stereo is a highlight. This version does not offer Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
• Fuel efficiency: The V8 returned 19.3 mpg on the test route and was rated at 18 mpg by EPA estimates.

Which 2017 Genesis G80 trim should I buy?

The 2017 Genesis G80 is offered in 2 trim levels: 3.8 and 5.0.

Here's the short version:

• 3.8: This is the trim to target if you want the best value. It gives you the core G80 experience with the 3.8-liter V6, rear-wheel drive or available AWD, and the same upscale safety and luxury mission at a lower entry price.
• 5.0: Choose this if you want the strongest performance and the most fully loaded version of the car. The V8 brings 420 horsepower, the upgraded 9.2-inch touchscreen, and the 17-speaker Lexicon audio system.

The safety suite is standard across the lineup, which makes the lower trim especially appealing if you want the essentials without paying for the V8.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Genesis G80?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop but still want to move quickly on strong listings.

• Deal availability: 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 258 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.19% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 55.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $14,813, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Genesis G80's resale value?

The current average of $15,613 sits slightly below last year's $15,962.

That tells you the market has softened a bit, which can work against a future seller if you buy at the wrong price. On the other hand, the decline is modest rather than dramatic, so a well-kept example should still hold reasonable appeal.

If you keep mileage in check and maintain the car carefully, you’re more likely to preserve value than a neglected example would. Strong equipment, luxury-brand positioning, and a good reputation for owner satisfaction can help support demand when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.93/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Genesis G80 safe?

The 2017 Genesis G80 is a Top Safety Pick Plus from IIHS and earns five-star ratings from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes adaptive cruise control with stop and go, forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, and blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert. The lane-keeping system can be less accurate when road markings change or lanes narrow, so that’s worth keeping in mind if you drive on older or more complex roads.

Should I buy a 2017 Genesis G80 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 32.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 55.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.19% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.93/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It introduces Genesis as a standalone luxury brand and adds standard driver-assistance features.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $18,944, the 2018 costs more than the current year's $15,613 average.
• It adds a more performance-focused Sport trim with a twin-turbo V6 and adaptive suspension.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2017 is the smarter buy because it delivers strong owner satisfaction, solid safety, and a lower average price. If you’re willing to spend more for a sharper performance character, the 2018 is the better fit.
