How much does the 2017 GMC Terrain cost?

Prices have softened 4.71% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,393 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2017 GMC Terrain a good car?

Generally — the 2017 GMC Terrain earns 4.33/5, which points to strong owner satisfaction for this model year. Owners repeatedly praise its comfortable ride, spacious interior, quiet cabin, and attractive design, and those strengths line up well if you want a compact SUV that feels easy to live with every day. It also fits buyers who value a more polished, premium-leaning feel over sporty performance. With 29.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 GMC Terrain reliable?

Owners rate it 4.33/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, with comfort and everyday usability showing up as recurring strengths. That said, you should still think about long-term ownership risk in the usual used-car way: verify maintenance history, confirm the vehicle has been cared for consistently, and avoid examples with unresolved mechanical or cosmetic issues.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 GMC Terrain?

At 61.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive or the vehicle has incomplete service records. Focus your condition check on signs of past bodywork, uneven panel gaps, tire wear, and any issues that could hint at harder use.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 GMC Terrain?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 29.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,393 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.71% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,030, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 GMC Terrain's resale value?

The current average of $11,082 sits slightly below last year's $11,629.

That softer pricing suggests the Terrain has already moved through a meaningful portion of its depreciation curve, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right price. For you, that means the best resale outcomes will likely come from choosing a clean, well-kept example and avoiding overpaying today. A lower entry price can also make it easier to recover more of your money later if market conditions stay steady.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.33/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 GMC Terrain or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 29.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.71% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.33/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $14,013, the 2018 costs more than the current year's $11,082 average.
• It brings a redesigned look and more available features.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2017 is the stronger starting point because it combines lower pricing with solid owner satisfaction. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model and a redesigned appearance, the 2018 is the secondary path to consider, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2017 first.
