How much does the 2017 GMC Terrain cost?

Prices have softened 4.61% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,335 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2017 GMC Terrain a good car?

Generally — the 2017 GMC Terrain earns a 4.3/5 user rating, which points to solid owner satisfaction. Owners repeatedly praise its comfortable ride, spacious interior, quiet cabin, and smooth handling. The Terrain also fits well if you want a compact SUV with a practical cabin and a more angular design than many rivals. With 30.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 GMC Terrain reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback also points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience for many drivers, especially around comfort and everyday usability. At the same time, the review summary notes concerns about engine performance, so long-term ownership risk for used buyers depends heavily on finding a well-maintained example and choosing carefully.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 GMC Terrain?

At 62.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection from a trusted mechanic. Focus on overall condition, signs of past bodywork, and how the vehicle drives, since a careful inspection can help you avoid examples with hidden issues.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 GMC Terrain?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 30.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,335 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.61% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 62.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,830, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 GMC Terrain's resale value?

The current average of $10,830 sits slightly below last year's $11,354.

That softer pricing suggests the Terrain has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stabilizes. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may be better positioned to limit further value loss. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 GMC Terrain or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 30.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 62.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.61% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $13,753, the 2018 costs more than the current year's $10,830 average.
• It brings a redesigned look with a more modern overall presentation.

The bottom line: The 2017 is the better starting point if you want a lower entry price and a broader pool of deals. If you can stretch for a newer model and want the updated design, the 2018 is the secondary path, but price-sensitive buyers will likely find the 2017 easier to justify.
