How much does the 2017 Ford Expedition cost?

Is the 2017 Ford Expedition a good car?

Generally — the 4.29/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners repeatedly praise its spaciousness, comfort, value for money, and smooth ride, and the overview frames it as a practical full-size SUV for family hauling with a third row and plenty of passenger space. That makes it especially appealing if you want truck-based capability without giving up cabin comfort. With 33.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some attractive opportunities.

Is the 2017 Ford Expedition reliable?

Owners rate it 4.29/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary also points to a dependable ownership experience, with praise centered on comfort, value, and the overall package rather than recurring major complaints. Mentions of minor defects and interior-material concerns suggest you should still shop carefully, but the broad feedback leans toward a vehicle you can count on. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is buying a poorly maintained example, so condition and service history matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Ford Expedition?

At 65.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection from a trusted mechanic. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the cabin shows wear that matches the mileage and asking price. Because this is a large family SUV, you’ll also want to pay close attention to how well it has been maintained over time.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Ford Expedition?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,348 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.64% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 65.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $14,097, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Ford Expedition's resale value?

The current average of $14,097 sits slightly below last year's $14,940.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favorable point, but it also means future resale gains may be limited if the market stays soft. If you plan to sell later, condition and mileage will matter even more because buyers will have plenty of comparable listings to choose from. A well-kept example should still hold appeal thanks to the model’s family-friendly space and comfort.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.29/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Ford Expedition or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 33.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.64% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.29/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $19,677, the 2018 costs more than the current year's $14,097 average.
• It brings a completely redesigned layout with more room, more comfort, and more cargo space.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2017 is the smarter starting point because pricing is softer and inventory is broad. If you’re willing to pay more for a redesigned cabin and stronger overall packaging, the 2018 is the better upgrade path for buyers who prioritize space and refinement over upfront cost.
