Why it stands out
The 2017 Dodge Durango makes a strong impression as a full-size SUV that combines functionality with comfort. It offers a spacious interior capable of seating up to seven passengers, which is ideal for families or those needing extra room. The availability of both a robust 3.6-liter V6 and a formidable 5.7-liter Hemi V8 engine allows buyers to choose between efficiency and power, with towing capabilities reaching up to 7,400 pounds. While it may not boast the luxury feel of some competitors, its solid construction and rugged aesthetics resonate well with those looking for practical performance and usability. The integrated Uconnect infotainment system enhances the driving experience significantly, although its lack of Apple CarPlay or Android Auto may deter some tech-savvy buyers. Despite some concerns regarding safety ratings, the Durango stands out as a strong contender in the full-size SUV category for its blend of power, space, and family-friendly features.

It’s a great vehicle. I love the looks. I love the tow capacity: I love the features and room. The 3.6/8 speed is a great combo. But… the small offset crash rating is a disaster. And as a dad of teens it made me cross it off my list. Why hasn’t dodge addresses this? Even mitigated it?
