Summary
With 888 currently listed for sale and an average price of $24,345, 34.0% of 2017 Cadillac Escalade listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2017 Cadillac Escalade 4.29 / 5 stars.

Why it stands out
The 2017 Cadillac Escalade stands out as a large luxury SUV that blends a commanding presence with a long list of upscale equipment. For this generation, Cadillac emphasized a more refined interior and a tech-heavy cabin, while keeping the Escalade body-on-frame and offering both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive. It also came with the 6.2-liter V8 and a 10-speed automatic transmission, which helped preserve the model’s traditional V8 character at a time when many rivals had moved to turbocharged six-cylinder engines.
What makes the 2017 model especially distinctive is how much equipment Cadillac packed into it. Standard features included the CUE infotainment system, 4G LTE connectivity, a hands-free power liftgate, tri-zone climate control, and a surround-view camera, while driver-assistance features such as automatic high-beam control and lane-keep assist were added for this model year. The 2017 update also brought a new trim structure, an updated grille, new headlights, an updated CUE system, a Live-View rear-vision camera in the rearview mirror, and a rear-seat reminder. That combination gives the 2017 Escalade a strong mix of luxury, convenience, and modern tech.
There are tradeoffs, though. The Escalade’s size can make it difficult to fit in a garage, and its fuel economy and ride quality are both listed as drawbacks. Even so, buyers drawn to a spacious, comfortable, and highly equipped full-size SUV will find the 2017 Cadillac Escalade appealing, especially if they want a model that feels distinctly premium and still delivers V8 power.

The front hood paint was really weathered. Like a matt oxidization. Definitely left a pic of that angle off for a reason.

The 2017 Cadillac Escalade Luxury is loaded with features that would make any ride comfortable or even having fun just hanging in the car parked in the driveway. The car is a great value if you can get it for a decent price as demand can give way to sellers overpricing these trucks.

Is the 2017 Cadillac Escalade a good car?
Generally — the 2017 Cadillac Escalade earns a 4.29/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners most often praise its luxurious features, comfort, and standout style, and they also describe it as loaded with impressive amenities and good value. With 34.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.
Is the 2017 Cadillac Escalade reliable?
Owners rate it 4.29/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owner feedback also leans toward dependable day-to-day use, with praise for the Escalade’s comfort, features, and overall value. At the same time, some owners mention maintenance costs that can rise after a few years, so long-term ownership risk is worth factoring into your budget if you’re buying used.
What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Cadillac Escalade?
At 56.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially for signs of wear that could affect a large luxury SUV’s long-term ownership costs. Focus on overall condition, maintenance records, and how well the vehicle’s electronics and comfort features are working.

What is the 2017 Cadillac Escalade's resale value?
The current average of $24,348 sits slightly below last year's $26,542.
That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can matter if you plan to resell in a few years. A lower entry price can help you limit depreciation exposure, but future resale will still depend on condition, mileage, and how well the vehicle has been maintained. Strong equipment and broad appeal can help support demand, especially in the luxury SUV segment.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.29/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2017 Cadillac Escalade or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2017 if:
- 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 56.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.27% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.29/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of price, features, and owner satisfaction, the 2017 is the primary year to target. It makes sense if you value the Escalade’s upscale cabin and tech-rich setup and want to buy into a softer market. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby years to see whether a lower-priced alternative gives you similar equipment for less money.
