Is the 2017 Cadillac ATS a good car?

Yes — the 2017 Cadillac ATS earns a 4.7/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners commonly praise its luxury feel, ride quality, performance, beautiful design, and handling. The main tradeoffs mentioned are the small back seat and the need for premium gas. With 29.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 Cadillac ATS reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback highlights a car that feels dependable in daily use, with praise centered on its ride quality, performance, and overall ownership experience. The recurring long-term theme is that you can count on the ATS to deliver a polished driving experience, though some buyers may want to weigh the premium-fuel requirement and interior space limitations.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright satisfaction and more about choosing a well-kept example that matches your needs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Cadillac ATS?

At 52.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus your condition check on signs of past bodywork, uneven panel gaps, and any issues that could affect long-term ownership costs.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Cadillac ATS?

This is a moderate market for buyers, so you can be selective without expecting deep discounts on every listing.

• Deal availability: 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 318 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.50% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 52.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,039, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Cadillac ATS's resale value?

The current average of $13,161 sits slightly below last year's $13,928.

That price movement suggests the ATS has softened enough to create a more approachable entry point for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may not see strong short-term appreciation. If you buy well and keep the car in strong condition, you can help protect value when it is time to sell. The model's current pricing also suggests that clean, well-maintained examples should remain easier to move than neglected ones.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 Cadillac ATS or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 52.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.50% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $11,094, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $13,161 average.
• The 2016 adds a stronger V6 and updated infotainment.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2017 if you want the stronger current-market balance of price, satisfaction, and availability. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2016 is the better value path, especially if you find one in clean condition.
