Is the 2017 BMW X6 a good car?

Yes — 5/5 is a strong user rating for the 2017 BMW X6. The overview points to a distinctive coupe-like SUV shape, upscale cabin tech, and a well-equipped feel, so you’re looking at a model that leans heavily into style and premium features. Is the 2017 BMW X6 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview suggests a premium SUV built around strong engines, a loaded cabin, and a distinctive design rather than a stripped-down formula. For used buyers, that means your long-term ownership risk is less about basic appeal and more about making sure the specific vehicle you choose has been maintained well and still feels tight, clean, and complete.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 BMW X6?

At 59.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from cars with prior damage or repeated claims. After that, prioritize a thorough inspection of body panels, paint consistency, interior wear, and any signs that the vehicle’s premium equipment has not been cared for properly. Because this model is more about luxury and style than maximum practicality, condition matters a lot when you’re comparing similar listings.

What is the 2017 BMW X6's resale value?

The current average of $20,645 sits slightly below last year's $22,545.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you’ll be better positioned to protect value when it’s time to move on. The model’s premium image and distinctive styling can still support demand, especially among shoppers who want a luxury SUV with a more dramatic look.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 BMW X6 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 59.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.43% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should focus on the 2017 if you want the X6’s distinctive styling, strong feature content, and a market that has already moved lower in price. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2017 is the better fit when you want the balance of current pricing, inventory, and the model’s core appeal.
