How much does the 2017 BMW X3 cost?

Prices have softened 10.68% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,103 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2017 BMW X3 a good car?

Yes — the 4.69/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the luxurious interior, smooth ride, and sporty performance, and they also value the cabin comfort, powerful engine, and practical features. For you, that makes this a strong fit if you want a compact luxury SUV that blends everyday usefulness with a more engaging driving feel. With 34.7% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2017 BMW X3 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.69/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a dependable ownership experience, with praise centered on the smooth ride, comfortable cabin, and trouble-free day-to-day use. That said, premium vehicles can bring higher maintenance and repair costs over time, so used buyers should pay close attention to service history and overall condition before committing.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 BMW X3?

At 63% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report on any promising listing and confirm whether prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on bodywork quality, mechanical condition, and signs of deferred maintenance. Because this is a premium SUV, you should also pay close attention to how well the interior and major systems have been maintained.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 BMW X3?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but should move quickly on the best examples.

• Deal availability: 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,103 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.68% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 63.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $12,406, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 BMW X3's resale value?

The current average of $12,406 sits slightly below last year's $13,889.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make future depreciation feel less steep if you buy at the right price. If you keep the vehicle in strong condition and maintain it well, you may be better positioned when it comes time to sell. Demand should remain supported by the model’s strong owner satisfaction and premium appeal.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.69/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 BMW X3 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.68% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.69/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2018 if:

• At $17,897, the 2018 costs more than the current year's $12,406 average.
• It brings a complete redesign with a fully new third-generation platform.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2017 is the stronger starting point because it combines a lower average price with solid owner satisfaction and decent deal availability. If you’re willing to spend more for the newer redesign, the 2018 is the better path for buyers who prioritize the fresh-generation update over upfront savings.
