How much does the 2017 BMW 3 Series cost?

Prices have softened 4.10% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,277 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2017 BMW 3 Series a good car?

Generally — the 4.22/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its style, performance, comfort, spacious interior, and exceptional handling, and the model is often viewed as a great value when it has been well maintained. That makes it especially appealing if you want a compact luxury sedan that still emphasizes driving enjoyment and premium feel. With 34.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful chance to find a competitive offer.

Is the 2017 BMW 3 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 4.22/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback highlights a car that can feel dependable and trouble-free when it has been cared for properly, with praise centered on long-term enjoyment, comfort, and value. At the same time, some buyers noted potential engine issues, so reliability depends heavily on maintenance history and how the car was used. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is ending up with a neglected example that turns routine upkeep into expensive repairs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 BMW 3 Series?

At 54.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any reported damage was minor, repaired properly, or repeated. Put inspection priority on signs of uneven wear, inconsistent panel gaps, warning lights, and evidence of deferred maintenance. Because ownership costs are not low, focus on overall condition and service records rather than just the asking price.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 BMW 3 Series?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,277 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.10% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 54.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,475, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 BMW 3 Series's resale value?

The current average of $13,615 sits slightly below last year's $14,197.

That softer pricing suggests the market has become a bit more buyer-friendly, which can also mean future sellers may need to price carefully to stay competitive. If you buy well and keep the car in strong condition, you may be better positioned to preserve value when it is time to sell. Demand should remain supported by the model's strong owner satisfaction and reputation for driving enjoyment.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.22/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 BMW 3 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 34.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 54.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.10% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.22/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $11,885, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $13,615 average.
• It emphasizes thrilling driving with everyday usability.

The bottom line: You should start with the 2017 if you want the stronger current-market balance of price, inventory, and owner satisfaction. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2016 is the better secondary path, especially if you find one with strong maintenance records and a clean history.
