How much does the 2017 BMW 3 Series cost?

Prices have softened 4.67% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,274 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2017 BMW 3 Series a good car?

Generally — the 2017 BMW 3 Series earns a 4.2/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Drivers consistently praise its style, performance, comfort, spacious interior, and exceptional handling, and the model’s premium feel and engaging driving dynamics line up well with shoppers who want a sedan that feels more rewarding than a typical commuter car. The overview also makes clear that it suits you best if you value driving enjoyment and upscale character more than maximum space or low running costs. With 34.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2017 BMW 3 Series reliable?

Owners rate it 4.2/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The user feedback also points to a car that can be dependable and trouble-free when it has been well maintained, with some owners describing it as a great value in that condition. At the same time, a few drivers raised concerns about potential engine issues, so long-term ownership risk is best managed by focusing on maintenance history and pre-purchase inspection results.

What should I look for when buying a used 2017 BMW 3 Series?

At 50.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a thorough inspection of bodywork, alignment, and signs of prior repair. Because this model can be expensive to maintain, focus on service records, mechanical condition, and any warning lights or drivability issues rather than just mileage alone.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 BMW 3 Series?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 34.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,274 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.67% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 50.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $13,478, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 BMW 3 Series's resale value?

The current average of $13,638 sits slightly below last year's $14,306.

That softer pricing suggests the model has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right price. For you, the key is to avoid overpaying now, because a lower entry price gives you more cushion when it comes time to sell. Well-kept examples should remain easier to move than neglected ones, especially given the model’s strong enthusiast appeal.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.2/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2017 BMW 3 Series or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 34.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 50.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.67% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.2/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $11,647, the 2016 costs less than the current year's $13,638 average.
• It emphasizes thrilling driving and practical seating.

The bottom line: Choose the 2017 if you want a strong mix of value, owner satisfaction, and current-market selection. If your top priority is spending less upfront, the 2016 is the better budget-focused alternative, especially if you find one with a clean history and strong maintenance records.
