After the BMW M235i left the scene in 2016, the M240i slotted right into its place in the F22 lineup, continuing with the next generation of BMW’s turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine. That car ran through the F22 generation, and was succeeded by the G42 generation M240i in 2022. The basic formula remains the same: Two-door coupe with 50/50 weight distribution, and a big 3.0-liter turbocharged inline six jammed under the hood, powering the rear wheels. The 3.0-liter’s performance is now dialed up to 382hp and 369-lb.ft. of torque, though these days the only transmission available is the eight-speed ZF 8HP automatic.
