The expert evaluation also emphasizes the Q7’s mechanical elegance and strong driving dynamics, which reinforces the impression of a well-engineered SUV. What should I look for when buying a used 2017 Audi Q7?

At 71% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a careful pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on condition, maintenance records, and whether the vehicle’s technology and safety systems operate as intended, since this model leans heavily on advanced equipment.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Premium starts with a 7-inch MMI display, leather upholstery, heated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, and standard safety features including front and rear parking sensors, forward-collision warning with auto-brake, and a reversing camera. Premium Plus adds navigation, keyless entry and ignition, a power-adjustable steering wheel, auto-dimming side mirrors, interior accent lighting, and blind-spot monitoring. Prestige adds LED headlights, a surround-view camera, a TFT display, ventilated front seats, 4-zone auto climate control, rear window sunshades, a larger 8.3-inch display, head-up display, and a 19-speaker Bose stereo.
• Powertrain: The turbocharged 4-cylinder makes 252 hp and 273 lb-ft of torque and is rated at 20 mpg city, 25 highway, 22 combined. The supercharged V6 makes 333 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque and is only slightly less efficient in city and combined driving, while delivering quicker acceleration and stronger towing capability.
• Safety package: Standard safety equipment includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning and mitigation, night vision, and front and rear parking sensors. Audi Pre-Sense is also included, and the system can tighten seatbelts, prime the brake lines, and close the windows and sunroof in an imminent crash.
• Infotainment: The base setup uses a 7-inch display, while higher trims add navigation and a larger 8.3-inch high-resolution display. The virtual cockpit is a major tech feature, and the system is built around a configurable digital display with Google Earth integration.
• Fuel efficiency: The turbocharged 4-cylinder is rated at 20 mpg city, 25 highway, 22 combined. The supercharged V6 sacrifices only 1 mpg in city and combined driving relative to the four-cylinder.

Which 2017 Audi Q7 trim should I buy?

The 2017 Audi Q7 is offered in 3 trim levels: Premium, Premium Plus, Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• Premium: This is the value play if you want the lowest entry price without giving up the core luxury experience. You still get the panoramic sunroof, leather upholstery, heated front seats, and a strong standard safety list, so it covers the essentials well.
• Premium Plus: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds navigation, keyless entry and ignition, a power-adjustable steering wheel, auto-dimming side mirrors, interior accent lighting, and blind-spot monitoring. If you want a more complete luxury-SUV experience without jumping to the top trim, this is the one to target.
• Prestige: Choose this if you want the most upscale version, with the larger 8.3-inch display, head-up display, ventilated front seats, 4-zone climate control, rear sunshades, surround-view camera, LED headlights, and the 19-speaker Bose stereo.

The safety package is especially strong across the lineup, with adaptive cruise, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning and mitigation, night vision, and Audi Pre-Sense all part of the story.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2017 Audi Q7?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without rushing.

• Deal availability: 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,112 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.77% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 71.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $14,343, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2017 Audi Q7's resale value?

The current average of $14,349 sits slightly below last year's $16,080.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you can reduce the risk of taking a bigger hit later. The key for future resale is to avoid overpaying now, because the current trend shows the model has already softened.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.78/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2017 Audi Q7 safe?

The 2017 Audi Q7 earns a Top Safety Pick+ rating from the IIHS.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard safety suite includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, forward-collision warning and mitigation, night vision, front and rear parking sensors, and Audi Pre-Sense. Higher trims also add features such as a surround-view camera, while the base trim already includes a strong set of driver-assistance equipment.

One caveat to keep in mind is that the adaptive cruise and forward-collision system has been known to react too aggressively to discolorations or small bumps, briefly braking before correcting itself. That doesn’t erase the Q7’s strong safety credentials, but it does mean you should test the driver-assistance systems carefully during your inspection drive.

Should I buy a 2017 Audi Q7 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2017 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2017 if:

• 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 71% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.77% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.78/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2017 stands out for its redesign, new engine, lighter weight, and improved technology.

The bottom line: If you want the redesigned Q7 with strong owner satisfaction and a softer price than last year, the 2017 is the right place to focus. If you’re especially price-sensitive, keep shopping listings carefully and prioritize the cleanest history and best-maintained example you can find, since condition and prior incidents matter a lot in this market.
