The owner feedback highlights reliable performance, and reviewers also describe the XC60 as comfortable and trouble-free in day-to-day use. That combination suggests the model has the kind of dependable character many used buyers want from a premium SUV.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the overall reputation and more about making sure the specific vehicle has been maintained well and shows no signs of neglected wear.

At 66.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records, title status, and ownership history before you commit. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing has higher mileage or incomplete service documentation.

Focus your condition check on signs of prior bodywork, uneven panel gaps, interior wear, and any issues with electronics or comfort features, since those are the kinds of details that can affect your ownership experience.

That price movement suggests the XC60 has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help limit how much value you lose if you buy at the right price. If the market stays steady, a well-kept example should remain easier to resell than one with accident history or visible wear.

Should I buy a 2016 Volvo XC60 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

• 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 66.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.48% compared with last year.
