Is the 2016 Volvo XC60 reliable?

The owner feedback also highlights reliable performance and a trouble-free ownership experience, alongside comfort and a spacious cabin. That combination suggests the XC60 can be a reassuring choice if you want a used luxury SUV you can count on over time.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific vehicle has been maintained well and still feels mechanically and electronically sound.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Volvo XC60?

At 65.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records, title status, and ownership patterns before you commit. After that, prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, with extra attention to bodywork, alignment, braking feel, and any signs of uneven wear. Because the XC60 is a comfort-focused luxury SUV, you should also pay close attention to how the cabin electronics, controls, and ride quality feel during a test drive.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Volvo XC60?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy if you shop carefully.

• Deal availability: 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.

If you find a listing below $11,002, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Volvo XC60's resale value?

The current average of $11,074 sits slightly below last year's $11,837.

That softer pricing suggests the XC60 is in a buyer-friendly phase right now, which can make future resale gains harder to count on in the short term. If you buy at a strong price and keep the vehicle in good condition, you give yourself a better chance of limiting depreciation later. The model’s strong owner satisfaction can help support demand when you eventually sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Volvo XC60 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 36.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 65.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.44% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2016 if you want a well-liked XC60 with strong owner satisfaction and a softer current price than last year. If your priority is maximizing value and you want the widest possible shopping window, you can also compare nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-priced example rather than the model year alone.
