The features are great especially the right blind spot display. This car is a great value. The only thing missing is leather seats. I can’t compare it to any other models since this one is a special edition.

We looked at the Honda and Toyota minivans. We ended up purchasing the Sienna. It is a great vehicle, great value, very comfortable. Prior to purchasing the vehicle the two negative reviews I found were the engine is loud when accelerating and the car seats are hard to get in and out. I did not even notice the engine noise so that is a non-issue for me but the car seats were a little tricky. We leave our car seats in for extended periods of time (only take out to clean) so its really not a big deal. If we took them out every day I could see how this would be annoying but the fact that they essentially live in the car I really dont care. All the extra features are really nice too, automatic doors with buttons on the key fob, build in sun screens, electronics are really nice and responsive, the interior space and head room is massive. We really enjoy this vehicle and will have it for a long time.

See more price trendsHow much does the 2016 Toyota Sienna cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $17,521 |
| Year-Round Low | $16,191.03 |
| Year-Round High | $17,957.55 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $17,716 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −1.10% |
Prices have softened 1.10% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 1,065 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and equipment. If you find a listing below $16,191.03, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
Is the 2016 Toyota Sienna a good car?
Yes — 5/5 owners rate it 5/5, and the expert rating is 7.67/10. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.
Drivers consistently praise its comfort, spaciousness, and the wide range of features available across the lineup. The user feedback also points to strong value in the higher trims, along with a well-liked sound system and interior design. For family use, the Sienna’s roomy cabin and feature-rich setup line up well with its minivan mission.
The model-year overview reinforces that it’s aimed at you if you want a spacious, comfort-focused family vehicle with useful tech and a strong overall value proposition. The market also shows 31.5% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.
Is the 2016 Toyota Sienna reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with many drivers emphasizing comfort and value over the long haul. The expert evaluation also describes the Sienna as a model with a strong reliability reputation, even if this year reflects a slight dip after a major refresh and content upgrade. The cost-effectiveness notes add that it has historically been a class leader for reliability, which supports confidence in long-term use.
You should still verify maintenance history and inspect carefully, since any used minivan can carry age-related wear and prior-service risk.
What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Toyota Sienna?
At 54.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection matters here, especially if you’re comparing higher-mileage examples or trims with more equipment. Focus on condition, service records, and how well the cabin electronics and sliding-door hardware work in daily use.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base L trim includes automatic headlights, windshield-wiper heaters, tri-zone automatic climate control, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, a rear-view camera in a 6.1-inch touchscreen, Siri Eyes Free, and 17-inch alloys. The LE adds heated side mirrors, power-sliding doors, an 8-way power driver’s seat, an upgraded stereo with HD and satellite radio, a 7-inch touchscreen, privacy glass, and Scout GPS Link compatibility.
- Powertrain: Every Sienna uses a 3.5-liter V6 with a 6-speed automatic transmission. It delivers 266 hp and 245 lb-ft of torque, with FWD versions rated at 18 mpg city/25 highway and 21 mpg combined; AWD drops to 16/23 and 19 combined.
- Safety package: The available driver-assistance suite includes blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise, and forward-collision warning. Some features are packaged or optional, and AWD versions miss the Advanced Technology package.
- Infotainment: Base models get a 6.1-inch touchscreen, while higher trims move to a 7.0-inch screen and enhanced connectivity. Wireless CarPlay is not mentioned, and the system includes Siri Eyes Free; rear entertainment is available on higher trims.
- Fuel efficiency: FWD models are rated at 18 mpg city, 25 highway, and 21 combined. AWD models are rated at 16 mpg city, 23 highway, and 19 combined.
Which 2016 Toyota Sienna trim should I buy?
The 2016 Toyota Sienna is offered in 6 trim levels: L, LE, SE, SE Premium, XLE, and Limited.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: The L trim gives you a strong feature set for the money, but it lacks the richer materials, larger touchscreen, and convenience upgrades found higher up the range.
- Sweet-spot trim: The LE is the best value pick if you want power-sliding doors, an upgraded stereo, a larger touchscreen, and more everyday convenience without jumping into the pricier sport or luxury trims.
- Premium/top trim: The Limited brings the most upscale experience with premium leather, navigation, a heated steering wheel, parking sensors, and a JBL audio system.
- Off-road trim: None of the trims are aimed at off-road use, so you can focus on comfort, features, and value instead.
The safety package note to keep in mind is that blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise, and forward-collision warning are available, but some are tied to packages or specific trims.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Toyota Sienna?
This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively and still find decent value.
- Deal availability: 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,065 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.10% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 54.3% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $16,191.03, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2016 Toyota Sienna's resale value?
The current average of $17,521 sits slightly below last year's $17,716.
That mild decline suggests the market has softened a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now. For a future seller, the current pricing trend implies you may not see rapid appreciation, but the model’s broad appeal should help support demand. Strong feature content and family-friendly utility can also make it easier to attract shoppers when it’s time to sell.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2016 Toyota Sienna safe?
Both the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) have awarded their top scores overall for the Sienna, with only the NHTSA’s total frontal crash and the IIHS’s small overlap frontal-crash tests receiving the second-highest ratings.
It earns a 8/10 safety score from our experts.
The available driver-assistance suite includes blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise, and forward-collision warning. Those features are not universal across every trim, so you should confirm the exact equipment on any listing you’re considering. The safety testing note also shows that while the overall results are strong, there is a small caveat in the frontal-crash results.
Should I buy a 2016 Toyota Sienna or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2016 if:
- 31.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 54.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.10% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The year stands out for its spacious, comfort-focused family setup and useful tech features.
Consider the 2015 if:
- At $15,045, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $17,521 average.
- It offers a stronger all-around package after numerous upgrades.
The bottom line: If you want the newer-year pricing context, broad feature availability, and strong owner satisfaction, the 2016 is the better primary target. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2015 is the smarter price-sensitive alternative and still delivers the core Sienna strengths.
