Is the 2016 RAM 3500 a good car?

Yes — the 2016 RAM 3500 earns a 4.8/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners commonly praise its reliability and power, especially for heavy-duty towing, and many also like its comfort and decent fuel economy in single rear wheel configurations. For you, that means this truck fits best if you want serious capability without giving up a more comfortable cabin. With 29.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 RAM 3500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners describe it as reliable, dependable, and well suited to heavy-duty work, especially when you need a truck you can count on for towing and other demanding tasks. That kind of feedback suggests the 2016 RAM 3500 can be a sensible used buy if you prioritize durability and capability. For long-term ownership, you should still pay close attention to wear items and maintenance history so you do not inherit avoidable repair costs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 RAM 3500?

At 63.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can separate clean trucks from those with prior damage. After that, put inspection priority on structural condition, signs of repair quality, and any wear that could affect heavy-duty use. Because this model is often bought for demanding work, you should also focus on how well the truck has been maintained and whether its condition matches its mileage and intended use.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 RAM 3500?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 29.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 412 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.20% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 63.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $31,985, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 RAM 3500's resale value?

The current average of $32,533 sits slightly below last year's $35,056.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can make resale a little less favorable than it was a year ago. If you buy now, your future selling price will likely depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the truck has been maintained. Strong examples should still hold appeal because buyers in this segment tend to value capability and comfort together.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 RAM 3500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 29.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.20% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: You should focus on the 2016 if you want a well-liked heavy-duty truck with strong owner satisfaction and a softer used-market price than it had a year ago. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby year may still be worth comparing, but the 2016 remains a compelling choice when you want a balance of capability, comfort, and market value.
