Used 2016 Nissan Pathfinder for Sale nearWorcester, MA

How much does the 2016 Nissan Pathfinder cost?

Prices have softened 8.33% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 803 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and equipment.

Is the 2016 Nissan Pathfinder a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Nissan Pathfinder earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise the spacious interior, smooth driving experience, comfort, power, and cargo space, especially when you use the third row. That lines up well with the Pathfinder’s role as a family-sized three-row SUV that’s meant to be practical and easy to live with. The market also shows 30.1% of listings as good or great deals, which adds to the appeal if you want value as well as space.

Is the 2016 Nissan Pathfinder reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable-feeling SUV with a spacious cabin, smooth driving manners, and useful cargo room that many families can count on. The expert evaluation also describes the V6 as dependable and powerful, which supports the idea that the core drivetrain is built for everyday use. Nissan’s first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house, which is a small ownership perk if you’re comparing running costs.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that some listings may have been used hard or maintained inconsistently, so condition and service history matter more than the badge.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Nissan Pathfinder?

At 53.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage family hauler. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the cabin and cargo area show the kind of wear you’d expect from regular third-row use. Because this model is often bought for family duty, it’s worth checking that all seating, convenience, and safety features work as intended.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The basic S trim level is the entry point, while the SV, SL, and Platinum add more equipment. The SL also gets Tech and Premium sub-trim designations, and the Platinum sits at the top with the most available equipment. If you want the best value, the midlevel trims are the ones to compare most closely.
• Powertrain: The Pathfinder uses a single 3.5-liter V6 with 260 horsepower and 240 lb-ft of torque, paired with a CVT. Front-wheel drive is standard, and 4WD is available if you want extra traction and a bit more capability.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes a reversing camera with rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot warning, a 360-degree top-down monitor, and Easy Fill Tire Alert. It does not offer drowsy-driver detection, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, forward-collision warning, or automatic emergency braking.
• Infotainment: The system lacks smartphone projection, natural voice recognition, NissanConnect with Mobile Apps, Wi-Fi connectivity, and connected emergency or roadside features. The Family Entertainment Package adds dual viewing screens, wireless headphones, a remote, a 3-prong electrical outlet, and video-game hookups.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert test loop returned 20.2 mpg, and the EPA estimate cited in the evaluation is 21 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2016 Nissan Pathfinder trim should I buy?

The 2016 Nissan Pathfinder is offered in 4 trim levels: S, SV, SL, Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the value starting point, and it gives you the Pathfinder’s core three-row utility at the lowest entry price. It’s the trim to consider if you mainly want space and practicality without paying for extras.
• SV: This is the trim to compare first if you want a better balance of equipment and price. It builds on the S without jumping all the way to the more expensive luxury-oriented trims, so it’s the most natural middle-ground choice.
• SL: This trim adds the leather-lined treatment and can be further distinguished with Tech and Premium sub-trim designations. It’s the one to look at if you want a more upscale cabin without going straight to the top.
• Platinum: This is the top trim and the one for shoppers who want the most fully equipped Pathfinder. It’s the right pick if you want the most features and don’t mind paying for them.

The safety content also notes that the Pathfinder cannot be equipped with forward-collision warning or automatic emergency braking.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Nissan Pathfinder?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 30.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 803 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.33% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 53.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $9,416, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Nissan Pathfinder's resale value?

The current average of $9,508 sits slightly below last year's $10,373.

That price movement suggests the Pathfinder has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. If you shop carefully now, you may have less downside left than you would with a newer, pricier SUV. The current market also shows enough inventory to give you room to compare condition and equipment before you commit.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Nissan Pathfinder safe?

The 2016 Nissan Pathfinder loses its Top Safety Pick designation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Nissan equips it with a reversing camera, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot warning, a 360-degree top-down monitor, and Easy Fill Tire Alert. However, it does not offer drowsy-driver detection, lane-departure warning with lane-keeping assist, forward-collision warning, or automatic emergency braking. That missing active-safety hardware is the main caveat to keep in mind if you want the most modern protection features.

Should I buy a 2016 Nissan Pathfinder or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 30.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 53.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.33% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Expert or safety highlight specific to this year: it offers a roomy three-row layout with a 360-degree monitor and rear cross-traffic alert, but lacks forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $10,680, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $9,508 average.
• It adds a redesigned platform with more interior room and broader family-hauling appeal.

The bottom line: If you want the lower entry price and are comfortable shopping carefully, the 2016 is the better value play. If you can spend more for the newer model year, the 2017 is the better path for shoppers who want the latest version of the Pathfinder’s family-focused formula.
