How much does the 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class cost?

Prices have softened 7.27% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 259 listings available, which gives you a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class a good car?

Yes — 5/5 is a strong user rating for this model year, and it lines up with the G-Class’s appeal as a luxury SUV with real off-road credibility and a huge range of power and personality. The overview points to a vehicle that blends military-rooted toughness with unmistakable luxury and presence, while also emphasizing that many buyers are drawn to the style and status as much as the off-road ability. It is especially appealing if you want character, capability, and image over efficiency or bargain pricing.

There are 32.4% of listings priced as good or great deals, so you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview describes a vehicle that combines rugged off-road hardware with luxury features and modern driver-assist equipment, which supports its reputation for being built to do more than just look the part. At the same time, it is expensive to buy, maintain, and insure, so reliability for a used buyer is only part of the ownership equation.

For long-term ownership, you should expect high running costs even if the truck itself has the durability buyers want from a G-Class.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

At 63.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. Then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, with extra attention to body condition, signs of off-road use, and whether the luxury and driver-assist equipment is functioning as expected.

Because this model is expensive to own, you should focus on overall condition and maintenance quality rather than just mileage.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 32.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 259 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.27% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 63.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $60,227, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class's resale value?

The current average of $61,332 sits slightly below last year's $66,140.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled enough to give you a better entry point than a year ago, which can help if you plan to resell later. Because the model has strong image appeal and a loyal audience, well-kept examples should continue to attract attention even as ownership costs stay high. If you buy carefully and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you improve your odds of holding value better than a neglected example would.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 32.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 63.3% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.27% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 is a strong choice if you want the G-Class experience now and can focus on condition, history, and ownership costs rather than chasing the newest year. If you are more price-sensitive, a different year may give you a lower entry point, but the 2016 still offers a compelling mix of market softness, inventory, and buyer appeal.
