How much does the 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class cost?

Prices have softened 9.44% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 262 listings available, which gives you a meaningful pool to compare prices and condition.

Is the 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class a good car?

Yes — the 5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. The 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class stands out because it combines old-school, military-derived toughness with the kind of luxury and power that made it a status symbol. It also offers serious off-road capability, an upscale cabin, and the kind of unmistakable presence that appeals if you want an SUV that feels as much like an icon as a vehicle. With 34.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class is built around rugged hardware, including a two-speed transfer case and electronically locking differentials, which reinforces its durable, old-school character. At the same time, the model is known for expensive ownership, so used buyers should plan for higher long-term running costs and inspect carefully for deferred maintenance.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

At 61.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a full vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on body integrity, drivetrain operation, and signs of wear that could be costly to address later. Because this model is expensive to own, condition matters more than chasing the lowest sticker price.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 262 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.44% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $59,515, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class's resale value?

The current average of $59,515 sits slightly below last year's $65,717.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more favorably now but may also limit near-term upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key is to buy a well-kept example so you preserve as much value as possible. Strong condition and clean history matter especially in a vehicle like this, where buyers tend to pay more for confidence.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.1% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.44% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 is a strong choice if you want the classic G-Class formula and you can find a clean example at a sensible price. If you're especially price-sensitive, it makes sense to compare nearby years and focus on the best-maintained truck rather than chasing the newest badge.
