Summary
With 125 currently listed for sale near Miami, FL and an average price of $13,415, 16.8% of 2016 Mercedes-Benz E-Class models for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.

Why it stands out
The 2016 Mercedes-Benz E-Class stands out as a used luxury sedan that still feels highly modern. In its fifth-generation form, it was introduced in 2016 as a sedan, with wagon versions following later the same year, and it brought a more S-Class-like look along with a high-tech cabin. The interior is defined by a swoopy dashboard, circular air vents, and, in most versions, two side-by-side 12.3-inch display screens that create the impression of one large screen. Standard equipment is generous, with electric adjustment for the steering wheel and front seats, a rear-view camera, satellite navigation, LED headlamps, and a wide array of driver-assistance safety features.
What makes the 2016 Mercedes-Benz E-Class especially appealing is how much performance and luxury it offers across the range. The E300 and later E350 models use 2.0-liter four-cylinder engines, while six-cylinder versions such as the E400 and later E450 provide more pace, and Mercedes-AMG models add serious performance. Standard features like a nine-speed automatic transmission and, on many versions, rear-wheel drive or 4Matic all-wheel drive help broaden its appeal. Buyers also benefit from the car’s strong reputation for build quality and generally good reliability, though some owners have reported juddering brakes, glitchy infotainment systems, and a potential cracked-piston issue on early E300 models.

Moving from sn SUV to a sedan the E400 series offered Mercedes dependability and performance at an affordable price. Thrilled with my purchase. I had looked at the 300 but at 6-4 I found the 400 to be more comfortable.

How much does the 2016 Mercedes-Benz E-Class cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $15,488 |
| Year-Round Low | $14,998 |
| Year-Round High | $15,960 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $15,571 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −0.53% |
Prices have held steady compared to this time last year, signaling a stable and predictable market for this model year.
There are 1,044 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.
Is the 2016 Mercedes-Benz E-Class a good car?
Yes — the 4.64/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its classic styling, reliability, and comfortable drive, and many also highlight the performance of the 6-cylinder engine and the fun experience behind the wheel. That lines up well with the E-Class’s upscale, high-tech cabin and broad appeal as a used luxury sedan that still feels modern. With 33.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful chance to find one that fits your budget.
Is the 2016 Mercedes-Benz E-Class reliable?
Owners rate it 4.64/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owners describe it as reliable and appreciate its generally dependable, trouble-free character, especially over longer ownership periods. The feedback also suggests that many buyers feel confident counting on it as a comfortable daily driver. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure you avoid examples with unresolved condition issues or deferred maintenance.
What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?
At 55.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records, title status, and service history before you get too far along. Then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, with extra attention to brakes, infotainment behavior, and overall interior and exterior condition. Because this is a luxury sedan, small signs of neglect can matter more than they would on a simpler car, so focus on how well the car has been maintained and repaired.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy if you’re patient and compare listings carefully.
- Deal availability: 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,044 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 55.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $14,998, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2016 Mercedes-Benz E-Class's resale value?
The current average of $15,488 sits slightly below last year's $15,571.
That small decline suggests the market has been fairly stable, which can help future sellers because it reduces the risk of a sharp value drop. If you buy well and keep the car in strong condition, you’re more likely to preserve value than if you overpay for a rough example. The model’s steady pricing also suggests that demand remains consistent among used luxury sedan shoppers.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.64/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2016 Mercedes-Benz E-Class or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2016 if:
- 33.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 55.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.64/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
The bottom line:
The 2016 is a strong choice if you want the newer-feeling cabin, modern tech, and a well-liked ownership experience in a used luxury sedan. If your priority is stretching your budget further, a nearby older year may be worth considering, but you should expect to trade off some of the 2016’s updated feel and market stability.
