Is the 2016 Mercedes-Benz CLA a good car?

Generally — the 2016 Mercedes-Benz CLA earns a 4.3/5 user rating, which supports its appeal as a compact luxury sedan with a strong style-and-technology focus. The overview points to a car that feels more upscale than its size suggests, with premium branding, sharp design, and a cabin aimed at delivering a high-end experience. It also offers a broad spread of drivetrains and generous standard equipment, so you have room to shop for the mix of features and performance that fits your needs. 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Mercedes-Benz CLA reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview describes reliability as generally good, but it also notes electrical glitches and potentially costly air suspension repairs on some models. That means your long-term ownership risk is less about broad mechanical weakness and more about making sure the specific car you buy has been maintained carefully.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Mercedes-Benz CLA?

At 46.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records, title status, and ownership patterns. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on electrical systems and suspension condition, since those are the areas the overview flags as worth watching. You should also pay close attention to overall cosmetic and mechanical condition, because this model’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been kept.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Mercedes-Benz CLA?

This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and pricing softness to reward careful shopping.

• Deal availability: 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 253 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.03% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $12,014, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Mercedes-Benz CLA's resale value?

The current average of $12,015 sits slightly below last year's $13,064.

That price movement suggests the model has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help limit near-term downside for a future seller. If you buy well and keep the car in strong condition, you may be better positioned to preserve value than someone who pays closer to the top of the range. Demand should remain tied to the CLA’s style, badge appeal, and premium feel rather than pure practicality.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Mercedes-Benz CLA or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 46.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.03% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $12,690, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $12,015 average.
• It is positioned as the cheapest entry into the Mercedes brand.

The bottom line: If you want the better value play, the 2016 is the stronger starting point because it combines lower average pricing with a softer market. If you care more about the next model year’s positioning and are willing to pay more, the 2017 is the secondary path.
