How much does the 2016 Mazda MAZDA6 cost?

Is the 2016 Mazda MAZDA6 a good car?

Yes — the 2016 Mazda MAZDA6 earns a 4.7/5 user rating and an 8.67/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Technology and Safety.

You get a car that owners praise for its smooth ride, stylish design, enjoyable handling, and fuel efficiency. That lines up with the overview’s emphasis on a mainstream midsize sedan that feels more upscale than its price suggests, especially if you want something practical but still engaging to drive.

Only 30.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market is somewhat selective even if the car itself is well liked.

Is the 2016 Mazda MAZDA6 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers consistently describe it as dependable, with praise for its smooth ride, fuel efficiency, and overall satisfaction with the car’s features. The expert evaluation also calls it expected to be dependable over time and inexpensive to own, which supports the idea that it should hold up well for many buyers.

The ownership risk for used shoppers is more about finding a well-kept example than worrying about a broad reliability problem.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Mazda MAZDA6?

At 45.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle-history report and then prioritize a careful inspection of body panels, paint consistency, and signs of prior repair. Because the car’s appeal depends heavily on its driving feel and equipment, it’s also worth checking that the cabin features and driver-assistance systems work as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Grand Touring stands out for its upscale feel, and the Technology Package adds more advanced safety equipment. The Touring and Grand Touring trims also include blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, while the base setup leaves you with fewer of those features.
• Powertrain: The car uses a 184-hp, 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, and it is the only engine offered. A 6-speed manual is available in the Sport and Touring versions, while the Grand Touring uses a 6-speed automatic.
• Safety package: The Technology Package adds lane-departure warning, radar cruise control with forward-collision warning, and Smart Brake Support automatic emergency braking. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert comes standard on the Touring and Grand Touring trims.
• Infotainment: Mazda Connect includes a display screen mounted within reach at the top of the dashboard, touch capability when stopped, voice commands, text-messaging support, and available navigation with 2D and 3D map rendering. The system also supports Aha and Pandora, and a Bose Centerpoint Surround Sound system is available.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert evaluation cites 29.3 mpg during testing, and the EPA figures are 28 mpg city, 40 mpg highway, and 32 mpg combined.

Which 2016 Mazda MAZDA6 trim should I buy?

The 2016 Mazda MAZDA6 is offered in 3 trim levels: Sport, Touring, Grand Touring.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point if you want the Mazda6’s styling and driving character at the lowest trim level. It is the trim mentioned as offering the manual gearbox, so it suits you if you want the most basic path into the lineup and prefer a row-your-own setup.
• Touring: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert that improves everyday confidence. It also keeps the manual-transmission option, which gives you more flexibility if you want a more engaging drive.
• Grand Touring: This is the trim to choose if you want the most upscale version of the car, with the standard automatic transmission and the richest feature set described in the evaluation. It is the right pick if you care most about comfort, convenience, and a more premium feel.

The safety-package note to keep in mind is that the Technology Package adds lane-departure warning, radar cruise control with forward-collision warning, and Smart Brake Support automatic emergency braking.

What is the 2016 Mazda MAZDA6's resale value?

The current average of $12,575 sits slightly above last year's $11,698.

That upward move suggests the car has held buyer interest well enough to support pricing. For a future seller, that means a clean, well-equipped example should still attract attention if it’s presented well and priced realistically.

The limited share of good or great deals also suggests buyers are willing to pay for the right car, which can help resale strength if your vehicle is in strong condition.

Should I buy a 2016 Mazda MAZDA6 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 30.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 45.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 7.49% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2016 stands out for its upscale styling, strong technology, and top-tier safety scores.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $11,421, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $12,575 average.
• It combines sharp styling, an upscale look, and engaging driving dynamics in a practical package.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger all-around package, the 2016 is the better target because it pairs high owner satisfaction with standout safety and technology. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2015 is the better value play, especially if you find one in clean condition and with the equipment you want.
