How much does the 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 9.06% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,437 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 a good car?

Generally — the 4.3/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its comfort, features, and smooth ride, and many also like the upscale Denali trim and thoughtful design touches. The truck’s blend of capability and a more refined cabin makes it appealing if you want a full-size pickup that feels more polished than purely utilitarian. With 31.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to dependable day-to-day use for many shoppers, with praise centered on comfort and overall ownership experience. At the same time, some drivers report trouble-free ownership while others mention transmission and air-conditioning concerns, so reliability can vary by individual truck. For used buyers, that means long-term ownership risk is manageable, but only if you verify maintenance history and condition carefully.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 GMC Sierra 1500?

At 61.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection from a trusted mechanic. Focus on signs of prior body damage, transmission behavior, and overall maintenance quality, since condition can vary widely from truck to truck. A careful inspection matters most on higher-mileage examples or any listing priced well below the market average.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 GMC Sierra 1500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient.

• Deal availability: 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,437 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.06% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,252, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 GMC Sierra 1500's resale value?

The current average of $20,262 sits slightly below last year's $22,281.

That softer pricing suggests the truck has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right price. If you keep the truck in good condition and maintain it well, you may be better positioned to limit losses when it’s time to sell. Demand should remain supported by the model’s strong owner satisfaction and broad appeal among full-size pickup shoppers.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.06% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $18,652, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $20,262 average.
• It offers a polished cabin with practical features.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger overall balance of price, owner satisfaction, and current market availability, the 2016 is the better default choice. If your top priority is spending less upfront, the 2015 is the more budget-friendly path and still delivers many of the same core strengths.
