Is the 2016 GMC Acadia a good car?

Generally — the 4.33/5 user rating points to a well-liked used SUV, and the overview backs that up with a practical, comfort-first character aimed at families. You’re looking at a roomy crossover with available upscale touches, straightforward mechanicals, and a setup that prioritizes comfort over performance. That makes it a sensible fit if you want a three-row used SUV with a more premium feel than its basic shape suggests. The market also shows 30.4% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 GMC Acadia reliable?

Owners rate it 4.33/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview also singles out this model year as one of the better Acadia years for reliability, which strengthens its case as a used buy. For long-term ownership, that means your biggest risk is less about the model’s basic durability and more about finding one that has been maintained well.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 GMC Acadia?

At 59.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

Start with a vehicle history report so you can screen for accidents, title issues, and repeated ownership changes. Then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on suspension, brakes, and other wear items that matter on a family SUV. Focus on overall condition and maintenance records, since a clean, well-kept example is the safest path in this market.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 GMC Acadia?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find value.

• Deal availability: 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,698 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.14% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 59.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,357, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 GMC Acadia's resale value?

The current average of $10,391 sits slightly below last year's $11,563.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the Acadia easier to buy now but also means future resale gains may be limited if prices stay soft. If you plan to sell later, condition and documentation will matter more because buyers will have plenty of comparable listings to choose from. A clean history and strong maintenance record can help you stand out when it’s time to trade or list it.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.33/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 GMC Acadia or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 30.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 59.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.14% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.33/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $13,127, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $10,391 average.
• It brings a lighter redesign with a smaller footprint and a new engine choice.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2016 is the stronger starting point because it’s cheaper and currently supported by a decent share of good deals. If you’d rather pay more for a newer redesign and a more modern driving feel, the 2017 is the better alternative.
