How much does the 2016 Ford Edge cost?

Prices have softened 7.71% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,580 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2016 Ford Edge a good car?

Generally — you’re looking at a 4.45/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Technology.

Owners consistently praise the comfortable ride, spacious interior, and smooth handling. They also highlight the available technology and features, including AWD and the sound system. In practical terms, this fits a family-oriented crossover that still has a performance-minded edge in the Sport version.

Good and great deals account for 31.6% of listings, so you have a meaningful share of the market to shop from.

Is the 2016 Ford Edge reliable?

Owners rate it 4.45/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a comfortable, dependable-feeling crossover that many drivers feel good about living with over time. The broader ownership picture also suggests a trouble-free experience for many shoppers, with the main complaints centered more on refinement than on major durability concerns.

Ford’s performance notes emphasize strong noise, vibration, and harshness isolation, which supports the impression of a well-sorted drivetrain. The cost-effectiveness notes also point to Ford dealers often making deals, which can help reduce the pain of ownership if you buy smart.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about catastrophic failure and more about whether a specific example has been maintained well and avoided the kinds of issues owners mention.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Ford Edge?

At 66.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a Sport model or a higher-mileage example. Focus on condition, repair quality, and whether the electronics and driver-assistance features work as intended. Because the model’s appeal depends heavily on comfort, tech, and driving feel, you’ll want to make sure the specific vehicle still delivers those strengths.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup starts with the SE, which has front-wheel drive and a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine, while the SEL and Titanium add more equipment and can be had with a 3.5-liter V6. The Sport sits at the top with standard all-wheel drive, a twin-turbocharged V6, adaptive steering, and 21-inch wheels, but it also brings a darker cabin and a more performance-focused personality.
• Powertrain: The Sport uses a twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 with 315 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Ford also offers a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder on the SE and a 3.5-liter V6 on the SEL and Titanium, so you should match the engine to how you plan to use the SUV.
• Safety package: The Edge includes 911 Assist and MyKey, and available driver-assistance tech includes forward camera, semi-autonomous parking, forward-collision warning, and lane-keeping assist. It does not have automatic emergency braking, so that gap matters if safety tech is a priority.
• Infotainment: Sync 3 brings a capacitive touch display, faster response, improved voice recognition, swipe and pinch-to-zoom support, Siri Eyes Free, smartphone projection for Apple and Android devices, and Wi-Fi software updates. Standard Sync with AppLink also includes 911 Assist.
• Fuel efficiency: The Sport returned 19.7 mpg in testing and was rated at 20 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2016 Ford Edge trim should I buy?

The 2016 Ford Edge is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SEL, Titanium, Sport.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point if you want the Edge’s basic shape and a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder without paying for the upper trims. It’s the simplest way into the lineup, but it leaves out the richer equipment and performance hardware that define the more appealing versions.
• SEL: This is the sensible step-up trim if you want more comfort and equipment without jumping all the way to the Sport. It adds more content than the SE and can be had with the 3.5-liter V6, making it a better fit if you want a more rounded daily driver.
• Titanium: This is the best-value trim for shoppers who want a more upscale feel without the Sport’s price and performance focus. It builds on the SEL with more premium equipment and is the trim to target if comfort and features matter more than outright speed.
• Sport: This is the one to buy if you want the Edge’s performance identity, with the twin-turbo V6, standard AWD, adaptive steering, and 21-inch wheels. It’s the enthusiast choice, but it makes the most sense only if you’ll actually enjoy the extra capability and firmer character.

The Sport’s safety setup still lacks automatic emergency braking, so if that feature matters most to you, keep that in mind while shopping.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Ford Edge?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,580 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.71% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 66.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,089, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Ford Edge's resale value?

The current average of $11,089 sits slightly below last year's $12,016.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may temper future resale upside if you plan to sell soon. If you buy at the right price, you reduce the risk of taking a bigger depreciation hit later. The strongest resale candidates will be clean, well-kept examples with desirable equipment and no accident history.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.45/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Ford Edge safe?

The 2016 Ford Edge earns Acceptable in the IIHS small overlap frontal impact test and five-star ratings in all NHTSA assessments, plus a four-star rollover resistance rating.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford includes 911 Assist and MyKey as standard safety-related features, and available driver-assistance tech includes forward camera, semi-autonomous parking, forward-collision warning, and lane-keeping assist. The key shortcoming is the lack of automatic emergency braking, which is a meaningful omission for a vehicle with this much available safety tech.

Should I buy a 2016 Ford Edge or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 66.6% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.71% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.45/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2016 stands out for its Sport trim’s twin-turbo V6 performance identity and standard AWD.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $12,118, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $11,089 average.
• It adds a more family-friendly, space-focused crossover personality.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2016 is the smarter buy because pricing has softened and the market still offers plenty of inventory. If you’re willing to pay more for a slightly newer model and prefer a more practical, family-first feel, the 2017 is the cleaner alternative.
