How much does the 2016 Ford Edge cost?

Prices have softened 8.58% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,598 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2016 Ford Edge a good car?

Generally — the 2016 Ford Edge earns a 4.45/5 user rating and an 8.5/10 expert rating, which points to a strong overall reception. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Technology.

Owners consistently praise the comfortable ride, spacious interior, smooth handling, and well-equipped feel. The overview also frames it as a practical crossover with a family-friendly shape, while the expert notes emphasize its performance-minded character and broad appeal for buyers who want utility without giving up driving enjoyment.

The market also shows 31.4% of listings as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2016 Ford Edge reliable?

Owners rate it 4.45/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable-feeling ownership experience, with owners highlighting a comfortable ride and well-equipped cabin that they can count on day to day. The expert notes also describe the drivetrain as well isolated and satisfying, which supports the impression of a vehicle built to handle regular use with confidence.

Ford’s maintenance-friendly ownership pitch is reinforced by the broader value proposition, and the model’s strong comfort and feature set suggest it should age best if it has been well cared for.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that neglected examples may show the same minor electronic glitches and wear-related issues owners mention.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Ford Edge?

At 66.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the listing price looks unusually attractive. Focus on body condition, electronics behavior, and evidence of prior repairs, since the ownership feedback points to minor electronic glitches and the market includes a sizable share of cars with accident history.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Edge lineup ranges from the SE with front-wheel drive and a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine to the SEL and Titanium with a 3.5-liter V6, while the Sport sits at the top with standard all-wheel drive, adaptive steering, 21-inch wheels, and a darker, more aggressive appearance. The base trims are much less optioned, so you should compare equipment carefully if you want the best mix of value and features.
• Powertrain: The Sport uses a twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V6 with 315 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. Ford’s intelligent all-wheel-drive system is standard on the Sport, and the engine is tuned for strong acceleration and satisfying everyday drivability.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes 911 Assist and MyKey, while available driver-assistance tech can include forward camera, semi-autonomous parking, forward-collision warning, and lane-keeping assist. The content also notes that automatic emergency braking is not included, so that gap matters when you compare trims and options.
• Infotainment: Sync 3 brings a capacitive touch display with swipe and pinch-to-zoom functions, faster response, improved voice recognition, smartphone projection for Apple and Android devices, and Wi-Fi software updates. Dual USB ports, an SD card slot, and an auxiliary input are also included.
• Fuel efficiency: The test vehicle returned 19.7 mpg over the week, and the official combined estimate is 20 mpg.

Which 2016 Ford Edge trim should I buy?

The 2016 Ford Edge is offered in 4 trim levels: SE, SEL, Titanium, Sport.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point, with front-wheel drive and a turbocharged 2.0-liter 4-cylinder engine. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Edge lineup and are comfortable giving up the richer equipment and stronger performance of the upper trims.
• SEL: The SEL adds more equipment and can be had with a 3.5-liter V6, making it the better everyday choice if you want a more upscale feel without jumping all the way to the Sport. It should be the trim to compare first if you want a balance of value and features.
• Titanium: The Titanium also gets the 3.5-liter V6 and piles on extras, so it suits you if comfort and convenience matter more than outright performance. It is the trim to consider if you want a more premium-feeling Edge without paying Sport money.
• Sport: The Sport is the enthusiast pick, with the twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter V6, standard all-wheel drive, adaptive steering, and 21-inch wheels. Choose it if you want the strongest performance and the most distinctive character in the lineup.

The safety content also notes that the available driver-assistance technologies are extensive, but automatic emergency braking is not included.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Ford Edge?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,598 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.58% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 66.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $10,841, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Ford Edge's resale value?

The current average of $10,841 sits slightly below last year's $11,858.

That softer pricing suggests the model has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right price. For a future seller, that means your best protection is to buy well, keep mileage reasonable, and maintain the vehicle carefully so it stands out in a market where shoppers have plenty of alternatives.

The Edge’s strong owner satisfaction rating should help support demand over time, especially for well-kept examples with clean history and desirable equipment.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.45/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Ford Edge safe?

The 2016 Ford Edge earns an Acceptable rating from the IIHS and five-star ratings in all NHTSA assessments, plus a four-star rollover resistance rating.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes 911 Assist and MyKey, which adds programmable speed and volume limits, seat-belt reminders, and other teen-driver controls. Available driver-assistance features include forward camera, semi-autonomous parking, forward-collision warning, and lane-keeping assist, but the content also notes that automatic emergency braking is not included.

The main caveat is the IIHS small-overlap frontal result, which is weaker than you’d want in a newer design, and the braking system is also called out as a concern.

Should I buy a 2016 Ford Edge or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 66.8% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.58% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.45/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2016 adds Sync 3 and standard all-wheel drive on the Sport, while the expert notes praise its strong performance and broad family usefulness.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $12,000, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $10,841 average.
• It emphasizes a just-right size with ample cargo room and storage cubbies for busy families.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2016 is the stronger buy because pricing has softened and the market still offers plenty of inventory. If you’re willing to pay more for a slightly newer model with a more family-first emphasis, the 2017 is the cleaner alternative.
