Is the 2016 Chevrolet Trax a good car?

Yes — the 5/5 user rating points to strong shopper satisfaction for this model year. The Trax’s overview emphasizes its compact size, useful packaging, and budget-friendly positioning, so it fits well if you want an easy-to-park small SUV with a higher driving position and practical everyday usability. With 31.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful market opportunity if you shop carefully.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Trax reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview describes the Trax as practical and easy to live with, with a setup aimed at affordability and everyday use rather than complexity. That kind of straightforward design can be appealing for used buyers who want a simple small SUV, but long-term ownership risk still depends heavily on how well a specific vehicle has been maintained.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Chevrolet Trax?

At 61.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you commit, then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection from a trusted mechanic. Focus on body condition, signs of prior repair, and whether the vehicle’s features and interior equipment still work as expected. Because this model is positioned as a practical budget-friendly crossover, condition matters a lot when you’re comparing similar listings.

What is the 2016 Chevrolet Trax's resale value?

The current average of $8,715 sits slightly below last year's $9,034.

That softer pricing suggests the Trax is currently in a buyer-friendly phase, which can matter if you plan to sell later. If prices stabilize or recover, today’s lower entry point could help you preserve more value over your ownership period. The model’s practical packaging and broad appeal should help keep it relevant with budget-minded shoppers.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Trax or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.54% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $9,031, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $8,715 average.
• It adds a redesigned look and standard smartphone integration.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2016 is the stronger starting point because pricing is softer and deal availability is solid. If you can stretch for a newer model and want the updated design and tech, the 2017 is the better secondary path for buyers who care more about features than upfront cost.
