Is the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 a good car?

Generally — the 4.45/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the review summary repeatedly highlights value, reliability, comfortable features, good gas mileage, and stability on the road. For you, that means this Silverado makes the most sense if you want a full-size pickup that feels refined enough for daily use while still covering the work-truck basics. The market also shows 29.9% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.45/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The review summary also emphasizes reliability and trouble-free ownership, with owners describing it as dependable and a truck they can count on. That said, used buyers should still plan for long-term ownership risk by checking service history carefully and focusing on transmission condition during the test drive.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

At 61.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should run a vehicle history report before you get too far into the process, especially if the truck has higher mileage or multiple owners. Put the inspection priority on transmission behavior, since that is the main concern tied to this generation. You should also focus on overall condition, because a clean-looking truck can still hide wear from towing, hauling, or prior repairs.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500?

This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,984 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.79% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $18,249, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500's resale value?

The current average of $18,249 sits slightly below last year's $20,007.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favorable point, but it also means future resale gains may be limited unless the truck is especially clean and well maintained. If you plan to sell later, condition and documented maintenance will matter a lot because buyers will likely remain selective in a market that has already cooled. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.45/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.79% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.45/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2015 if:

• At $17,103, the 2015 costs less than the current year's $18,249 average.
• It offers a more straightforward, traditional truck setup.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger overall value proposition and are comfortable shopping carefully, the 2016 is the better primary pick. If your main goal is to spend less up front, the 2015 is the better secondary path, especially if you prefer a simpler and more budget-friendly route into Silverado ownership.
