How much does the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro cost?

Prices have softened 2.68% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,315 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro a good car?

Generally — the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro earns a 4.38/5 user rating and a 7.33/10 expert rating, which points to a strong overall reception. Owners consistently praise its sporty design, smooth ride, powerful performance, advanced technology, and handling. The redesign also matters here: the car is positioned as a more refined, modernized coupe with updated looks and a better interior, which makes it appealing if you want style and driving excitement in one package. With 30.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some attractive opportunities.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro reliable?

Owners rate it 4.38/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a car that many drivers feel good about living with over time, especially when it comes to the way it delivers performance and everyday enjoyment. The expert review also frames this Camaro as a more refined redesign with modernized hardware, which supports the sense that it is built to be a more mature version of the nameplate. The main ownership risk for used buyers is that condition can vary widely, so a careful inspection matters before you commit.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Chevrolet Camaro?

At 54.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection is especially important on this car because visibility concerns can make it harder to spot issues during a quick test drive. Focus on overall condition, signs of bodywork, and whether the car’s equipment and driving aids are functioning as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 2LT adds push-button start, an 8-way power driver’s seat, heated and ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, a Bose premium stereo, and the 8-inch MyLink touchscreen, making it the best-value choice if you want a more complete daily-driver setup.
• Powertrain: The base turbocharged inline 4-cylinder makes 275 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, while the available 3.6-liter V6 makes 335 horsepower and 284 pound-feet of torque. The SS uses a 6.2-liter LT1 V8 with 455 horsepower and 455 lb-ft of torque, and power goes to the rear wheels through a 6-speed manual or available 8-speed automatic.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes StabiliTrak stability control, traction control, advanced dual-stage airbags, and a backup camera. The Convenience and Lighting package adds rear park assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts.
• Infotainment: The Camaro uses an 8-inch MyLink touchscreen, and the system supports CarPlay. The test vehicle also had a head-up display that shows speed, radio information, engine RPM, and navigation prompts.
• Fuel efficiency: The turbo four with the 8-speed automatic returns 22 mpg city, 31 highway, and 25 combined. The V6 automatic returns 19 mpg city, 28 highway, and 23 combined. The V8 SS with a manual returns 16 mpg city, 25 highway, and 19 combined.

Which 2016 Chevrolet Camaro trim should I buy?

The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is offered in 3 trim levels: 2LT, SS, and 2LT V6 Camaro.

Here's the short version:

• 2LT: This is the best-value trim if you want the Camaro to feel genuinely modern without jumping to V8 pricing. It adds push-button start, an 8-way power driver’s seat, heated and ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, a Bose premium stereo, and the 8-inch MyLink touchscreen.
• SS: Choose this if you want the full muscle-car experience. It brings the 6.2-liter LT1 V8 with 455 horsepower and 455 lb-ft of torque, plus the extra Track mode and the strongest straight-line performance in the lineup.
• 2LT V6 Camaro: This is the smart middle ground if you want stronger performance than the turbo four without going all the way to the SS. It pairs the V6 with a good mix of fun-to-drive character and everyday usability.

The safety package adds rear park assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts on the test car.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Chevrolet Camaro?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.

• Deal availability: 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,315 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.68% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 54.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $21,021, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro's resale value?

The current average of $22,839 sits slightly below last year's $23,467.

That softer pricing suggests the Camaro is still moving, but buyers have a bit more leverage than they did a year ago. If you plan to sell later, that means condition, mileage, and equipment will matter even more when you set your asking price. Well-kept examples should still attract attention because the car’s styling and performance give it broad enthusiast appeal.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.38/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro safe?

The Camaro earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes StabiliTrak stability control, traction control, advanced dual-stage airbags, and a backup camera. The Convenience and Lighting package adds rear park assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts. The biggest caveat is visibility: the Camaro’s thick pillars and limited sight lines are a major drawback, so you should not rely on technology alone to compensate for outward visibility.

Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Camaro or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 54.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.68% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.38/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The redesign brings a more refined platform, updated styling, and modern infotainment.

Consider the 2017 if:

• At $23,857, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $22,839 average.
• It emphasizes a more dramatic, performance-focused personality with tighter space constraints.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2016 if you want the better value and a broader set of listings to choose from. If your budget stretches and you care more about the next model year’s sharper performance-first character, the 2017 is worth a look. For most used shoppers, though, the 2016 is the more practical buy because it combines a lower average price with strong owner satisfaction and a modernized redesign.
