Summary
With 1,239 currently listed for sale and an average price of $30,000.00, 29.7% of 2016 Chevrolet Camaros for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro 4.38 / 5 stars.
52.9% of 2016 Camaro models on CarGurus are accident free.
The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro features a redesigned interior with advanced technology, a range of powerful engine options, and improved handling dynamics.
Why it stands out
The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro stands out in the competitive pony car segment due to its complete redesign, which offers a fresh take on a classic American muscle car. Built on a platform shared with the Cadillac CTS and ATS, the Camaro boasts enhanced refinement and performance. The base model features a turbocharged inline 4-cylinder engine producing 275 horsepower, while the iconic SS variant packs a robust 6.2-liter V8 engine with 455 horsepower. This range of options caters to both performance enthusiasts and those seeking a more economical choice.
The interior has seen significant upgrades, moving away from retro styling to a modern, functional design that includes customizable ambient lighting and an intuitive MyLink infotainment system. However, some limitations remain, such as visibility issues and cramped rear seating, which may deter taller drivers. Overall, the 2016 Camaro combines sporty aesthetics with advanced technology and strong performance, making it an appealing choice for buyers looking for a thrilling driving experience.

All the tech you could need. Better build quality than expected, better ride than expected. Handling and power phenomenal. Car is solid. Cockpit is snug, but comfy. Sips gas, unless you have a lead foot, if you do plan on extra tires!

Amazing performance. Tons of power and handling was very good for such a big coupe. Nice features including a rev matching downshift that worked flawlessly. The interior is okay with some odd placement for the air vents. Plastic was typical GM. The biggest downside is visibility. I couldnt see anything for changing lanes or passing. Wife didnt like the interior at all. The seats were fine for me, but not for my wife.

Is the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro a good car?
Generally — 4.38/5 from owners is a strong satisfaction signal, and the expert rating comes in at 7.33/10. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Technology.
Owners consistently praise the sporty design, smooth ride, powerful performance, advanced technology, and handling capabilities. The Camaro’s use-case is clear: you’re shopping for a sporty coupe that leans hard into style and driving enjoyment, not maximum practicality. That said, visibility and cabin space come up often as tradeoffs.
With 27.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you still have room to shop selectively.
Is the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro reliable?
Owners rate it 4.38/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience for many drivers, with praise centered on the car’s strong performance and overall satisfaction over time. The expert evaluation also frames the Camaro as a fun, effective compromise for daily use when you want performance without giving up all comfort.
The main long-term ownership risk for used buyers is that the car’s appeal can mask how much its visibility and packaging limitations affect everyday livability.
What should I look for when buying a used 2016 Chevrolet Camaro?
At 53.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been modified or optioned heavily. Focus on body condition, panel alignment, and signs of prior repair, since accident history can matter more on a low-slung performance coupe. You should also pay close attention to visibility-related wear points and make sure the car’s safety equipment works as intended.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The base setup includes a standard backup camera, while the Convenience and Lighting package adds rear park assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts. That package meaningfully fills in some of the Camaro’s visibility gaps.
- Powertrain: The base engine is a turbocharged inline 4-cylinder with 275 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque. You can also find a 3.6-liter V6 with 335 horsepower and 284 pound-feet of torque, and the SS uses a 6.2-liter V8 with 455 horsepower and 455 lb-ft of torque. Rear-wheel drive is standard, with manual and automatic transmissions available.
- Safety package: StabiliTrak stability control, traction control, advanced dual-stage airbags, and a standard backup camera are included. The Convenience and Lighting package adds rear park assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts.
- Infotainment: The Camaro uses an 8-inch MyLink touchscreen, and the system supports CarPlay. The tech setup also includes a head-up display.
- Fuel efficiency: The turbo four with the 8-speed automatic returns 22 mpg city, 31 highway, and 25 combined. The V6 automatic returns 19 mpg city, 28 highway, and 23 combined. The V8 SS with a manual returns 16 mpg city, 25 highway, and 19 combined.
Which 2016 Chevrolet Camaro trim should I buy?
The 2016 Chevrolet Camaro is offered in 3 trim levels: 2LT, SS, and 2LT automatic 4-cylinder.
Here's the short version:
- Base trim: The 2LT automatic 4-cylinder gives you the core Camaro experience, but you’ll want to check whether it has the convenience and lighting upgrades if you care about blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alerts.
- Sweet-spot trim: The 2LT is the best value if you want a balanced mix of comfort, tech, and everyday usability. It adds features like push-button start, an 8-way power driver’s seat, heated and ventilated front seats, dual-zone climate control, a Bose premium stereo, and the 8-inch MyLink touchscreen.
- Premium/top trim: The SS is the performance pick, with the 6.2-liter V8 and the strongest straight-line pace. It’s the trim to choose if power matters most, but it comes with a higher price and more fuel use.
- Off-road trim: Not applicable for this model year.
The Convenience and Lighting package is the key safety-oriented add-on to look for if you want better everyday confidence.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 Chevrolet Camaro?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting deep discounts everywhere.
- Deal availability: 27.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 1,215 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 53.7% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $21,024.58, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro's resale value?
The current average of $23,206 sits slightly below last year's $23,373.
That small decline suggests the Camaro has been holding value fairly steadily rather than dropping sharply. For you as a future seller, that usually means the market is still willing to pay for the car’s style and performance appeal, especially if your example is clean and well maintained. Strong condition and desirable equipment should matter more than trying to time a big price swing.
Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.38/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2016 Chevrolet Camaro safe?
It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.
The Camaro comes with safety features such as StabiliTrak stability control, traction control, advanced dual-stage airbags, and a standard backup camera. As part of the Convenience and Lighting package, features like rear park assist, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alerts were all featured on our test car.
The biggest safety caveat is visibility: the Camaro’s thick pillars and limited sight lines are a real drawback, and you should not assume the available driver aids fully solve that issue. If you’re shopping used, make sure the safety package is present and test the car’s outward visibility yourself.
Should I buy a 2016 Chevrolet Camaro or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2016 if:
- 27.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 53.7% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.38/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
- It brings a fully redesigned platform with stronger refinement and modern tech.
Consider the 2017 if:
- At $24,599, the 2017 costs more than the current year's $23,206 average.
- It adds the 1LE Track Performance Package and Performance Data Recorder.
The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2016 if you want the better value and a broad mix of performance, tech, and stable pricing. If you’re willing to pay more for a later-year upgrade and track-focused extras, the 2017 is the stronger secondary path.
