How much does the 2016 BMW X3 cost?

Prices have softened 8.19% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 906 listings available, which gives you a solid pool to compare prices and condition.

Is the 2016 BMW X3 a good car?

Yes — the 2016 BMW X3 earns a 4.5/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its smooth driving experience, powerful performance, and luxury features, and many like the way it blends mid-size SUV practicality with sports car handling. That makes it a strong fit if you want a compact luxury SUV that feels more engaging on the road while still offering everyday usefulness. With 36.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a meaningful chance to find a competitive price.

Is the 2016 BMW X3 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a dependable driving experience, with praise for its smooth performance and premium feel. At the same time, the same feedback highlights higher insurance and maintenance costs, so long-term ownership risk for used buyers is less about basic satisfaction and more about budgeting for premium upkeep.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 BMW X3?

At 60.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and confirm whether any prior damage was repaired properly. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on bodywork quality, signs of uneven wear, and any evidence of deferred maintenance. Given the model’s premium ownership profile, you should also pay close attention to overall condition, because repair and upkeep costs can add up quickly if the previous owner cut corners.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 BMW X3?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 36.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 906 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.19% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 60.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,496, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 BMW X3's resale value?

The current average of $11,641 sits slightly below last year's $12,680.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the model easier to buy now but may also limit short-term upside for a future seller. If you plan to resell later, condition and maintenance history will matter even more because buyers tend to pay a premium for cleaner examples in a market where prices have already softened. Strong demand for well-kept listings can help offset some depreciation, especially if you keep mileage and cosmetic wear in check.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 BMW X3 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 36.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 60.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.19% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line:

The 2016 BMW X3 makes the most sense if you want a premium compact SUV with strong owner approval and a softer price than last year. If you value a more favorable buying window and can verify condition carefully, this year is a sensible target. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby model years and focus on the cleanest, best-documented example rather than chasing the lowest sticker alone.
