How much does the 2016 BMW X3 cost?

Prices have softened 8.71% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 867 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2016 BMW X3 a good car?

Yes — the 4.5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the smooth driving experience, powerful performance, and luxury features, and many also like the sporty handling and premium cabin feel. For you, that means this X3 makes the most sense if you want a compact luxury SUV that balances everyday usefulness with a more engaging driving character. With 35.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2016 BMW X3 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free experience for many drivers, especially when the vehicle has been maintained well over time. The model’s reputation for long-term appeal is helped by its strong driving manners and premium feel, but used buyers should still pay close attention to service records because repair costs can be higher on a luxury SUV.

What should I look for when buying a used 2016 BMW X3?

At 61.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report so you can confirm accident records, title status, and service history before you go any further. After that, prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on mechanical condition, signs of oil leaks, and any electrical or transmission-related concerns. Because this is a premium SUV, you should also pay close attention to maintenance records and overall wear, not just mileage.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2016 BMW X3?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 35.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 867 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.71% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 61.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,497, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2016 BMW X3's resale value?

The current average of $11,665 sits slightly below last year's $12,777.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you can reduce the impact of depreciation. A well-documented service history should matter more here because premium SUVs tend to hold buyer interest better when maintenance is clear and consistent.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2016 BMW X3 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2016 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2016 if:

• 35.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 61.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.71% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2016 is a good choice if you want the X3’s blend of luxury, sporty driving feel, and everyday practicality at a softened market price. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby years and focus on the cleanest, best-documented example rather than chasing the lowest sticker alone.
