Why it stands out
The 2016 BMW 2 Series stands out in the automotive market as a driver-centric vehicle that captures the essence of the brand’s performance heritage. With a focus on a rear-wheel-drive layout, the 2 Series delivers an exhilarating driving experience, achieving a balanced 50:50 weight distribution and agile handling that appeals to enthusiasts. The vehicle is particularly notable for its turbocharged engines, including the M235i variant, which features a robust 320-horsepower inline-six engine that provides a smooth and responsive performance.
While the chassis is equipped for spirited drives, the interior maintains BMW's commitment to quality, reflected in its intuitive design and functionality. However, despite its luxury badge, the 2 Series has been critiqued for limited rear seat space and higher ownership costs associated with maintenance and premium fuel. Still, the model’s unique mix of sportiness and practicality allows it to stand out as a value-oriented choice for those seeking a fun-to-drive car that can also fit into everyday life.

One of the best driving cars. Balanced, peppy, great on gas and has all the bells and whistles I need. Roof rails to accommodate my bike rack, ski rack, and the AWD is literally incredible in the snow. Very reliable 4 cyl and never any serious mechanical issues between 70-110k miles.

Model M235i XDrive - this was the best car I have ever driven. Its sporty, the handling and ride is so nice and firm (our previous Mercedes E350 coupe felt like driving a slipper). The seats cradle you, and felt so comfortable for someone my size (56 and average size) (the back seats are very small, but usable - slightly hard to climb into if you are older). We had the auto because Im lame and cant drive stick, but it was still so much fun to drive - 0 - 100 warranted a wooooo a lot of the time. Our model had a backup camera and sensors all around. With decent tires, is reasonable in snow if its not too deep (AWD). Pros: power, looks, seat comfort (for me). Cons: takes 91 octane gas, & a lot of it (esp. if you are enjoying the heck out of it). Small back seat. Front seats are low, so if youre old or injured, they arent fun (I hurt my back once and it was terrible getting in and out). Noisy exhaust. BMW maintenance is expensive. Husband traded it in on something completely different, and I miss it so much.
