How much does the 2015 Toyota Prius cost?

Prices are up 5.44% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 676 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2015 Toyota Prius a good car?

Yes — the 2015 Toyota Prius earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7.33/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its excellent fuel economy, spacious interior, comfort, smooth ride, and Toyota reliability. That lines up with the Prius’s everyday-commuter mission: it is built to make daily driving easier, cheaper, and more practical, especially if you want to spend less on gas. Good and great deals account for 32.2% of listings, so there is still some market flexibility if you shop carefully.

Is the 2015 Toyota Prius reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to Toyota’s reliability, and it also highlights the Prius as a car that many drivers trust for efficient, trouble-free daily use. The expert review reinforces that dependability angle by noting impressive reliability and dependability ratings, along with very low running costs. Toyota also includes free scheduled maintenance for the first 2 years or 25,000 miles of ownership.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about mechanical drama and more about whether the car has been maintained well enough to preserve its efficiency and value.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Toyota Prius?

At 50.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has higher mileage or visible cosmetic wear. Focus on overall condition, maintenance records, and any signs that the hybrid system or interior electronics have been neglected. Because this model is often bought for efficiency and low ownership costs, a clean, well-kept example matters more than a bargain with unknown history.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Prius is sold in Two, Three, Four, and Five trims. The lower trims are simpler, while the higher trims add more technology and convenience features, so base versions can feel sparse if you want a more modern cabin.
• Powertrain: The Prius uses a 1.8-liter, 4-cylinder hybrid setup with an electric drive motor and a continuously variable automatic transmission. It can run on electricity at low speeds for short distances, and its efficiency is the main reason to buy it.
• Safety package: Safety Connect is restricted to the Prius Four and Prius Five. The Advanced Technology Package adds lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and pre-collision warning and braking, but blind-spot warning is not offered.
• Infotainment: Prius Three and Persona Series models get navigation, Entune App Suite, and expanded Smart Key functionality. Higher trims can add a heads-up display, upgraded navigation, premium audio, and advanced voice recognition.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert review cites 51 mpg city, 48 mpg highway, and 50 mpg combined EPA estimates, and also notes a real-world average of 41.3 mpg during testing.

Which 2015 Toyota Prius trim should I buy?

The 2015 Toyota Prius is offered in 4 trim levels: Two, Three, Four, and Five.

Here's the short version:

• Two: This is the simplest way into the Prius lineup, so it makes sense if you mainly want the hybrid’s efficiency and low running costs without paying for extra tech.
• Three: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds navigation, Entune App Suite, and expanded Smart Key functionality without jumping all the way to the pricier upper trims.
• Four: Choose this if you want more comfort and convenience features, including the option for the Deluxe Solar Roof Package with a heads-up display, premium audio, upgraded navigation, and Toyota’s Safety Connect service.
• Five: This is the most feature-rich version, with standard LED headlights and access to the Advanced Technology Package, so it suits you if you want the most equipment and the most advanced driver-assistance content.

Safety Connect is limited to the Prius Four and Prius Five, and the Advanced Technology Package is only available on the Five in this review.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Toyota Prius?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you should shop carefully and be ready to move when you find a strong listing.

• Deal availability: 32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 676 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 5.44% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 50.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $11,400, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Toyota Prius's resale value?

The current average of $12,561 sits slightly above last year's $11,913.

That upward move suggests the market still values this Prius’s efficiency and practicality. Because demand remains steady and inventory is not overwhelming, well-kept examples should continue to hold attention from budget-conscious shoppers. The price trend also suggests that clean, fairly priced cars can move quickly, especially if they have a strong history and good maintenance records.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Toyota Prius safe?

The 2015 Prius earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick commendation from IIHS.

It earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota’s Safety Connect system includes automatic collision notification and emergency assistance, but it is limited to the Prius Four and Prius Five. The Advanced Technology Package adds lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control, and pre-collision warning and braking. A blind-spot warning system is not offered, which is a notable gap if you want the most useful modern driver-assistance features.

Should I buy a 2015 Toyota Prius or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 32.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 50.9% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices are up 5.44% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The expert review says it remains one of the best modes of transportation for daily living.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $15,208, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $12,561 average.
• It brings a new generation with a refreshed formula and a few new tricks.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2015 if you want the lower purchase price and proven Prius formula. If you can spend more and want the next-generation redesign, the 2016 is the better upgrade path. For most price-sensitive buyers, the 2015 remains the smarter value play.
