Used 2015 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Cargo for Sale near New York

The successful business owner needing a full-size delivery vehicle for 2015 could do a lot worse than the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Cargo van. The operative word here is “successful,” since these sizable brutes don’t come cheap. But then again, Benz products have traditionally adhered to the old adage: You get what you pay for. And, lest we forget, this classy van is also available in Passenger form, which is covered in a separate overview.

Offering the usual high-end materials, turbodiesel power, some upper-crust standard features and, debuting for the 2015 model year, a 4-wheel-drive (4WD) trim, the Sprinter Cargo once again remains delivered in a pair of trims, the three-quarter-ton 2500 and the one-ton 3500. Both trims offer an available High Roof sub-trim, and each sports a standard 144-inch wheelbase. An available 170-inch-wheelbase Ext edition is also offered in either trim.

Off the lot, the 144-inch Sprinter Cargo van sports 318 cubic feet of cargo area. Selecting the available 170-inch High Roof version, meanwhile, garners 494 cubes while the also-optional stretched High Roof Ext edition boasts 547 cubic feet of cargo acreage. These toting numbers, by the way, beat those of all competitors by a considerable margin. And payload capacity for the standard rear-wheel-drive 2015 Sprinter Cargo High Roof 3500 Ext with 170-inch wheelbase, by the way, remains maxed out at a respectable 6,105 pounds.

As mentioned, a 4WD edition of the Sprinter Cargo is slated for 2015 and is touted to tote a 2-speed transfer case, higher ground clearance and driver-selectable operation, whereby at the touch of a button, what’s essentially a beefed-up all-wheel-drive (AWD) system directs 65% of torque to the rear wheels and 35% to the front wheels in normal conditions. Additionally, M-B’s Electronic Traction System (4ETS) and load-leveling Electronic Stability Program (ESP) also come with the 4WD edition to help out in traction-challenged situations.

Also to be introduced for the 2015 Sprinter Cargo is M-B’s ballyhooed Crosswind Assistance option. Featuring yaw sensors, this techno-marvel automatically adjusts brake and steering operations to compensate for unexpected wind bursts. Obviously, this available goody will especially benefit the mainsail-sided Sprinter High Roof iterations.

The standard turbodiesel 2.1-liter inline 4-cylinder powerplant returns to the 2015 Sprinter Cargo lineup, again mating with the standard 7-speed shiftable automatic transmission for 161 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque.

For a bit more oomph, a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 engine remains available, managed by a 5-speed automatic transmission to put out 188 hp and 325 lb-ft of torque. Although mileage figures are unavailable for either drivetrain, Mercedes claims the I4 powertrain to be some 18% more fuel efficient than the V6.

Standard bling in the comparatively Spartan 2015 Sprinter Cargo includes 16-inch steel wheels, a rear passenger-side sliding door, hill start assist, barn-opening rear cargo doors, a wood load floor, cloth and leatherette upholstery, telescoping tilt-wheel steering and manual air conditioning. Again, Bluetooth hands-free calling and a 5-speaker audio system with 5.8-inch color display and SD card slot also remain delivered as standard techno-goodies.

Noteworthy optional equipment, meantime, includes, besides the new-for-2015 Crosswind Assist technology, such add-ons as cruise control, a multi-function steering wheel, GPS navigation and 16-inch alloy wheels, along with a driver’s-side sliding rear door, front and rear parking sensors, and a rear-view camera. Heated power-adjustable outside mirrors are also available again for 2015, as are heated front seats and a slew of cargo-management systems.

Standard safety equipment aboard all 2015 Sprinter Cargo vans, finally, includes 4-wheel antilock brakes (ABS), traction and electronic stability control, and front airbags. Optional safety stuff, meanwhile, includes lane-keeping assistance and blind-spot monitoring, as well as front side-mounted airbags integrated with head curtain airbags.
