Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2015 Mazda MAZDA6 4.89 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.67 / 10.

Why it stands out
The 2015 Mazda MAZDA6 stands out for combining sharp styling, an upscale look, and engaging driving dynamics in a midsize family-car package. It is described as well equipped and fun to drive, yet not priced like a premium car, which helps make its appeal broader than its appearance might suggest.
It also brings together fuel efficiency and practicality, giving buyers a car that is both attractive and sensible. Owner feedback reinforces the same strengths, with praise for its stylish design, reliable performance, comfortable interior, and good fuel economy. Some owners did wish for a better sound system and noted the absence of a CD player, but those complaints do little to diminish the Mazda6’s overall appeal as a distinctive and enjoyable daily driver.

I bought my Mazda6 used with around 55k miles on it back in 2017 and it’s still going strong in 2024. I’ve place over 110k miles on it and never had any issues with it. Just keep up with the maintenance and this car will go the distance. I do have the sport version and that’s honestly the only “downside” of the vehicle. Simple system. Nothing fancy. If you’re looking for a first time car, this would be it and you could learn the maintenance fairly quickly. I paid 13k for it and it’s probably one the greatest financial decision I’ve made.

Is the 2015 Mazda MAZDA6 a good car?
Yes — the 2015 Mazda MAZDA6 earns a 4.89/5 user rating and an 8.67/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Look and feel and Safety.
Owners consistently praise its stylish design, reliable performance, comfortable interior, and good fuel economy. That lines up with the car’s use-case as a practical midsize family sedan that still feels engaging and upscale without premium-car pricing. With 30.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, you also have a decent chance of finding a strong-value example.
Is the 2015 Mazda MAZDA6 reliable?
Owners rate it 4.89/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Owner feedback repeatedly points to reliable performance, and the broader review summary also highlights the car’s trouble-free, dependable character. The expert evaluation reinforces that impression by noting that it should prove to be more reliable than your average family sedan. Mazda also says the first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about the car’s core durability and more about finding one that has been maintained well and not worn hard.
What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Mazda MAZDA6?
At 50.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had bodywork or multiple owners. Focus on condition details that matter in daily use, including interior wear, electronics, and evidence of consistent maintenance. If a listing looks especially clean and well-kept, that matters here because the market includes a sizable number of cars with accident history.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: Sport models are the simplest version, while Touring adds leatherette, dual-zone automatic climate control, a power driver’s seat, rear air vents, keyless passive entry with push-button start, 19-inch aluminum wheels, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Grand Touring adds leather seats, heated front seats, a power sunroof, bi-Xenon headlights with LED running lights, navigation, and a Bose sound system.
- Powertrain: Every Mazda6 uses a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with direct fuel injection and a higher compression ratio. A 6-speed manual is standard on Sport and Touring, while the automatic is standard on Grand Touring and available on lower trims.
- Safety package: The car includes a reversing camera and Mobile 911 connectivity on all models except the Sport with a manual gearbox. Touring adds blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and Grand Touring adds Smart City Brake Support. A package on Touring can also add automatic headlights, rain-sensing wipers, and navigation.
- Infotainment: The system includes MazdaConnect services, Bluetooth calling and music streaming, text-messaging support, Aha Radio, HD Radio, a USB port, Pandora Internet radio, and available navigation. The upgraded audio setup uses an 11-speaker surround-sound system.
- Fuel efficiency: EPA estimates are 26 mpg city, 38 mpg highway, and 30 mpg combined without i-ELOOP, or 28 mpg city, 40 mpg highway, and 32 mpg combined with i-ELOOP.

Should I buy a 2015 Mazda MAZDA6 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2015 if:
- 30.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 50.5% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 1.24% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.89/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It combines upscale styling, engaging driving dynamics, and strong fuel economy in a mainstream midsize package.
Consider the 2016 if:
- At $12,538, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $11,481 average.
- It brings a sleeker, more upscale look and a more technologically advanced feel.
The 2015 is the better pick if you want the stronger value proposition and a wider pool of discounted listings. If you can stretch for the next year and want a slightly more upscale presentation, the 2016 is worth a look, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2015.
