CarGurus Analysis: 2015 Mazda MAZDA6
overall

Summary
With 436 currently listed for sale and an average price of $11,628.00, 28.9% of 2015 Mazda MAZDA6s for sale on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2015 Mazda MAZDA6 4.89 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it an 8.67 / 10.
45.6% of 2015 MAZDA6 models on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2015 Mazda MAZDA6 stands out for combining style, driving enjoyment, and value in a midsize family car. It has a sharp-looking, upscale appearance and is described as fun to drive, yet it does not command a premium price. That mix makes it appealing to buyers who want something more engaging and more polished than the typical practical sedan.
It is also presented as an affordable, fuel-efficient, and practical package, which broadens its appeal beyond its design and driving character. Owners echo those strengths, praising its stylish design, reliable performance, comfortable interior, and good fuel economy. Some do wish for a better sound system and note the absence of a CD player, but those drawbacks do little to change the Mazda6’s core appeal as a well-rounded daily driver with a distinctly desirable personality.

I bought my Mazda6 used with around 55k miles on it back in 2017 and it’s still going strong in 2024. I’ve place over 110k miles on it and never had any issues with it. Just keep up with the maintenance and this car will go the distance. I do have the sport version and that’s honestly the only “downside” of the vehicle. Simple system. Nothing fancy. If you’re looking for a first time car, this would be it and you could learn the maintenance fairly quickly. I paid 13k for it and it’s probably one the greatest financial decision I’ve made.

Yes — the 2015 Mazda MAZDA6 earns a 4.89/5 user rating, and our experts give it an 8.67/10. The model scores 10/10 across Look and feel and Safety.
Owners consistently praise its stylish design, reliable performance, and comfortable interior. They also highlight its fun driving experience and good fuel economy, which fits the car’s role as a practical daily driver with a more polished feel than many midsize sedans.
That combination lines up well with the overview: you get an affordable, fuel-efficient, and practical sedan that still feels more engaging and upscale than the average family car. With 23.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still gives you room to find value.
Is the 2015 Mazda MAZDA6 reliable?
Owners rate it 4.89/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
User feedback points to reliable performance and a car that feels solid for daily use. The expert evaluation also describes it as a car that should prove more reliable than your average family sedan, and it frames the Mazda6 as a sensible ownership choice rather than a risky one.
The ownership picture is helped by the model’s value positioning and its reputation for being easy to live with over time. For used buyers, the main risk is less about the car’s core durability and more about finding one that has been maintained well and not worn down by hard use.
What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Mazda MAZDA6?
At 45.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has been in a prior collision. Focus on body condition, panel alignment, tire wear, and signs that safety systems or electronics may have been affected by repairs.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: Sport models are the most basic, while Touring adds leatherette, dual-zone automatic climate control, a power driver’s seat, rear air vents, keyless passive entry with push-button start, 19-inch wheels, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Grand Touring adds leather seats, heated front seats, a power sunroof, bi-Xenon headlights with LED running lights, navigation, and a premium sound system.
- Powertrain: Every model uses a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with direct fuel injection and a higher compression ratio. A 6-speed manual is standard on Sport and Touring, while the automatic is standard on Grand Touring; the automatic also gets paddle shifters on Grand Touring.
- Safety package: The car includes a reversing camera and Mobile 911 connectivity on all models except the Sport with a manual gearbox. Touring adds blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, and Grand Touring adds Smart City Brake Support plus a forward-obstruction warning system and lane-departure warning.
- Infotainment: The system includes MazdaConnect services, Bluetooth calling and music streaming, text-messaging support, Aha Radio, HD Radio, a USB port, Pandora, and an available navigation system. The upgraded setup also brings a 5.8-inch color touchscreen display.
- Fuel efficiency: Models without i-ELOOP are rated at 26 mpg city, 38 mpg highway, and 30 mpg combined. With i-ELOOP, the estimate rises to 28 mpg city, 40 mpg highway, and 32 mpg combined.
Which 2015 Mazda MAZDA6 trim should I buy?
The 2015 Mazda MAZDA6 is offered in 3 trim levels: Sport, Touring and Grand Touring.
Here's the short version:
- Sport: This is the entry point, and it keeps the car affordable while still giving you the Mazda6’s core style and driving character. It makes the most sense if you want the lowest price and can live without the extra comfort and safety equipment found higher up.
- Touring: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds a strong mix of comfort and convenience features, including leatherette, dual-zone climate control, a power driver’s seat, rear vents, keyless entry with push-button start, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.
- Grand Touring: This is the trim to choose if you want the most upscale version, with leather seats, heated front seats, a sunroof, navigation, a premium audio system, and the most advanced safety tech in the lineup.
The safety-package sweet spot is Touring if you want a meaningful upgrade without going all the way to the top trim, while Grand Touring is the most complete choice for tech and comfort.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Mazda MAZDA6?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.
- Deal availability: 23.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 429 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 45.2% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $10,115.20, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2015 Mazda MAZDA6's resale value?
The current average of $11,678 sits slightly above last year's $11,635.
That small increase suggests the market has stayed stable rather than swinging sharply in either direction. For you, that usually means resale risk is manageable because the car is not showing signs of a steep value drop.
The year’s pricing also points to a model that buyers still recognize as a good value. If you buy well and keep the car in strong condition, you should have a reasonable chance of holding onto a fair share of that value later.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.89/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2015 Mazda MAZDA6 safe?
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gives it a five-star overall rating, and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety calls it a Top Safety Pick.
It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.
The Mazda6 includes a reversing camera and Mobile 911 connectivity on most versions, while Touring adds blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert. Grand Touring brings Smart City Brake Support, plus a forward-obstruction warning system and lane-departure warning.
One caveat is that the lane-departure warning system is described as imperfect in testing, so you should treat it as a helpful extra rather than a flawless safeguard.
Should I buy a 2015 Mazda MAZDA6 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2015 if:
- 23.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 45.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.89/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It combines sleek styling, engaging driving dynamics, and strong value in a practical midsize sedan.
Consider the 2016 if:
- At $12,431, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $11,678 average.
- It adds a more upscale, luxury-like presentation with stronger tech and a more refined overall feel.
The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2015 is the smarter starting point because it delivers the Mazda6’s core appeal at a lower average price. If you can spend more and want the newer model’s added polish, the 2016 is the better upgrade path for price-insensitive buyers.
