CarGurus Analysis: 2015 Jeep Cherokee

Summary
With 2,112 currently listed for sale and an average price of $9,320, 30.3% of 2015 Jeep Cherokee listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2015 Jeep Cherokee 4.75 / 5 stars.
59.8% of 2015 Jeep Cherokee listings on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2015 Jeep Cherokee stands out as a compact SUV that took the model in a very different direction from its older, more rugged predecessors. It adopted a softer crossover body style and a distinctive front end with thin LED strips above the actual headlights, giving it a look that was unusual for its segment. That design helped it appeal to buyers who wanted all-weather traction and a sense of adventure without the noise and bulk of Jeep’s older SUVs.
For 2015, Jeep added auto-stop/start to the V6, while the four-cylinder met Partial Zero Emission Vehicle standards after emissions upgrades. The backup camera and auto headlamps were now standard on the Latitude and Trailhawk, and additional option packages brought ventilated seats on the Trailhawk, forward emergency braking, and rear parking sensors and blind spot monitors. Standard equipment already included Bluetooth, air conditioning, two USB ports, remote keyless entry, and a 5-inch touchscreen with Uconnect 5.0, so the Cherokee offered a solid mix of everyday convenience and modern tech.
At the same time, the 2015 Cherokee had clear drawbacks. The base 2.4-liter four-cylinder was described as harsh and underpowered, and the generation as a whole was affected by major transmission issues. Even so, the Cherokee’s combination of styling, available off-road hardware, and feature content made it a compelling choice for shoppers who wanted a small SUV with more personality than most of its rivals.

I love this car, the heated seats and stearin wheel are one of my favorites. The moon roof that opens up into the back seats is beautiful. The fact I can restart my car in the morning is a time saver

Reviewed a 2015 Jeep Limited 4WD on Dec 12, 2014
I finally decided on the Jeep Cherokee. I had looked at the Grand Cherokee, but there were recalls on the 2014's with no resolution, so I thought it best to stay away from the 2015's as well. I decided to drive the regular Cherokee V6 (Limited 4x4), it has all the room I need with no kids. I was very impressed with how solid it felt and "tight". I drove the Kia and Toyota equivalents, but they both seemed too "splashy" to me. I am very happy with my new Jeep. My Cherokee has the "stop/start" option which is very interesting and I am liking it. This technology has been in Europe for 30 years. The way it works is: once you have driven the car at lest a 1/4 mile or so, the stop/start will engage once you come to a complete stop with your foot on the brake. Once at a complete stop, the Jeep engine will turn off, the tach goes to 0. The radio/heat/air, etc will stay on. Once you begin to take your foot off the brake the engine starts immediately and off you go. The first week using it may seem odd, but it will save you gas. There is no hesitation at all. You can choose to turn off your "stop/start" with the push of a button if desired. The Jeep Cherokee also has nitrogen filled tires which gives a much smoother ride than regular air. If necessary, you can top-off or fill the tires with regular air. I am keeping the nitrogen for the better ride. I am still getting used to the back-up camera, which is a must have in any SUV/CUV. This is my first 4x4 and look forward to using it in the snow and on the gravel roads in Boone and Blowing Rock of North Carolina.

My brother has a 2018 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. It is an excellent vehicle , on and off road. Unfortunately the cost of even a used one is too much for me so I have to continue driving my old Subaru.

| Year-Round Low | $9,407 |
| Year-Round High | $10,243 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $10,243 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −8.16% |

There are 2,139 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.
Is the 2015 Jeep Cherokee a good car?
Yes — the 4.75/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise the Cherokee’s comfort, features, and performance, with recurring positives around heated and cooled seats, a spacious interior, and user-friendly technology. The overview also shows why it appeals to you if you want a compact SUV with all-weather traction and a more distinctive personality than many rivals. With 31.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is meaningful market opportunity if you shop carefully.
Is the 2015 Jeep Cherokee reliable?
Owners rate it 4.75/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback highlights a vehicle many drivers find dependable in day-to-day use, especially when it comes to comfort and overall ownership experience. At the same time, the model’s reputation is shaped by concerns around the 4-cylinder engine and broader transmission issues, so used buyers should pay close attention to maintenance history and drivability. For long-term ownership, that means the safest path is a well-documented example with clean service records and no signs of powertrain trouble.
What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Jeep Cherokee?
At 60.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
You should start with a full vehicle history report so you can separate clean examples from those with accident records. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on the transmission, engine behavior, and any signs of uneven wear or repair quality. Because this model year has a mixed ownership reputation, condition matters more than mileage alone.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Jeep Cherokee?
This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can be selective without expecting every listing to be a bargain.
- Deal availability: 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 2,139 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.16% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 60.4% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $9,407, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2015 Jeep Cherokee's resale value?
The current average of $9,407 sits slightly below last year's $10,243.
That price movement suggests the model has softened, which can make it easier for you to buy now but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. If you choose a well-kept example, you can help protect future value by avoiding vehicles with accident history or weak maintenance records. Strong condition and clean documentation matter more when the market has already moved down.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.75/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2015 Jeep Cherokee or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2015 if:
- 31.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- At 60.4% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 8.16% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.75/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2014 if:
- At $8,690, the 2014 costs less than the current year's $9,407 average.
- It offers broader appeal with strong comfort, capability, and available features.
Consider the 2016 if:
- At $10,290, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $9,407 average.
- It emphasizes comfort and off-pavement capability in a more refined package.
The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, owner satisfaction, and available inventory, the 2015 is the primary year to target. If you are especially price-sensitive, the 2014 is the better value play, while the 2016 makes sense if you are willing to pay more for a newer-feeling alternative.
