How much does the 2015 Hyundai Sonata cost?

Prices have softened 5.91% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

Is the 2015 Hyundai Sonata a good car?

Yes — the 2015 Hyundai Sonata earns a 4.69/5 user rating and an 8.33/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function, Technology, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its reliability, comfort, good value, spacious interior, and quality sound system. That lines up with the overview’s focus on a practical midsize family sedan that feels more polished than basic, especially if you want something easy to live with rather than flashy. The market also shows 28.2% good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2015 Hyundai Sonata reliable?

Owners rate it 4.69/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback repeatedly points to reliability, and it also describes the car as dependable, comfortable, and good value for money. The expert evaluation adds that Hyundai’s redesign makes the Sonata a refined, well-rounded family sedan, while the cost-effectiveness commentary notes low predicted long-term ownership costs and strong warranty support. Hyundai’s free Blue Link subscriptions also help reduce early ownership friction.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that condition and maintenance history matter more than the badge alone, so a clean, well-kept example is the one to target.

What should I look for when buying a used 2015 Hyundai Sonata?

At 53.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the car has had bodywork or multiple owners. Focus on signs of uneven panel gaps, paint mismatch, interior wear, and any evidence that safety or driver-assistance systems were repaired after a collision. A clean service record matters here because the Sonata’s appeal is tied to comfort, features, and everyday usability.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SE is well equipped, while the Eco adds a more fuel-efficient powertrain, chrome grille, automatic headlights, turn-signal indicators on the outside mirrors, nicer interior materials, an 8-way power driver’s seat, and a 5-inch touchscreen with Blue Link telematics and a reversing camera. The Sport adds much of the Eco model’s equipment plus 17-inch wheels, sportier design cues, heated front seats, and a hands-free Smart Trunk system. The Limited adds leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control with rear air vents, a 6-way power front passenger’s seat, heated rear seats, manual rear side-window sunshades, an upgraded audio system, passive keyless entry with push-button start, and blind-spot detection with rear cross-traffic alert and lane-change assist. The Sport 2.0T trades some comfort features for a stronger turbocharged engine, 18-inch wheels, HID headlights, a tauter suspension, sport-bolstered front seats, a sport-design steering wheel with paddle shifters, and four chrome exhaust tips.
• Powertrain: The main engine is a 185-hp, 2.4-liter 4-cylinder with a 6-speed automatic transmission, and the Eco version is tuned for better fuel economy. The Sport 2.0T uses a turbocharged powerplant with 60 extra hp, while the 2.4-liter setup is described as more spirited and responsive than before.
• Safety package: The Sonata includes blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and lane-change assist on the Limited, while lane-departure warning and adaptive cruise control with forward-collision warning are available. The safety suite is strongest on higher trims, so base-model shoppers should check equipment carefully.
• Infotainment: Blue Link is standard on every version except the SE, where it is optional with the Popular Equipment package. The car can be had with a large 8-inch color touchscreen, premium sound system, navigation, and smartphone-connected services, and the system includes remote features plus guidance functions on equipped models.
• Fuel efficiency: The Eco version delivers an average of 32 mpg in combined driving, and the 2.4-liter test car is rated at 29 mpg combined.

Which 2015 Hyundai Sonata trim should I buy?

The 2015 Hyundai Sonata is offered in 5 trim levels: SE, Eco, Sport, Limited, Sport 2.0T.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Sonata without chasing extra features. It is the trim where Blue Link is not standard, so you should check whether the Popular Equipment package is included if connectivity matters to you.
• Eco: This is the best-value trim if fuel economy is a priority, because it adds the more efficient powertrain along with useful comfort and tech upgrades like the 8-way power driver’s seat, 5-inch touchscreen, Blue Link telematics, and a reversing camera.
• Sport: Choose this if you want a little more style and convenience than the Eco, since it adds 17-inch wheels, sportier design cues, heated front seats, and the hands-free Smart Trunk system while keeping much of the Eco’s equipment.
• Limited: This is the most upscale mainstream choice, with leather, dual-zone climate control, heated rear seats, passive keyless entry, push-button start, and the blind-spot and rear cross-traffic safety features. It is the best fit if you want the Sonata to feel closest to a near-luxury sedan.
• Sport 2.0T: Pick this if you care most about stronger acceleration and a firmer, more performance-oriented setup. It gives up some comfort features from the Limited, but it adds the turbocharged engine, sport seats, paddle shifters, and a tauter suspension.

The safety package is strongest on the Limited, where blind-spot detection, rear cross-traffic alert, and lane-change assist are standard.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2015 Hyundai Sonata?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 28.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,158 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.91% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 53.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $8,861, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2015 Hyundai Sonata's resale value?

The current average of $8,862 sits slightly below last year's $9,419.

That kind of price movement suggests the Sonata is still accessible on the used market, but it also means future sellers may not see strong appreciation. If you buy one now, resale value will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and trim, because well-kept examples with desirable equipment should hold buyer interest better than rougher cars.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.69/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2015 Hyundai Sonata safe?

The 2015 Hyundai Sonata earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The Sonata’s safety equipment includes blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and lane-change assist on the Limited, plus available lane-departure warning and adaptive cruise control with forward-collision warning. That means higher trims bring a more complete safety package, while lower trims may leave some of those features off the table. The expert review also describes the systems as smooth and seamless in everyday use.

Should I buy a 2015 Hyundai Sonata or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2015 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2015 if:

• 28.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 53.2% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.91% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.69/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Hyundai’s redesign makes this Sonata more refined inside and out, with stronger tech and a more polished feel.

Consider the 2016 if:

• At $9,300, the 2016 costs more than the current year's $8,862 average.
• It is a thoroughly capable midsize sedan with a more complete, well-rounded package.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2015 is the smarter starting point because pricing has softened and inventory is healthy. If you are willing to spend more for a newer model year, the 2016 is the cleaner alternative for buyers who want a slightly more current version of the same basic formula.
